Anyone with the desire to become a politician should automatically be barred from ever being one....
But there are individuals who go into politics to serve rather than be served. I would put Jimmy Carter in that category. Maybe a few individuals in Congress. But the problem is that going into politics for the right reasons often seems to result in staying in politics for the wrong reasons. But we should at least be suspicious of those who want to go into politics. Likewise people who are trying to sell us products or ideas. Why do so many people lack good old fashion skepticism? It's so useful.
