Long Term Rental

I think all viviana is saying is that 2 year rentals aren't readily available to tourists.

Which is true. Without a garantia things are a lot trickier, although not impossible. My company stood mine, you can pay vast sums in advance or if you have friends with property they can help. Its trickier than a booking a temporary rental at any rate.

Well they are not published all over the place, or on Craigslist, etc, but when talking to several RE agencies they told me ( and my own rental is the case ) that some landlords are willing to take payments in advance and skip the garantia issue. A contract can be made in a way where the 2 year rental can be accomplished in periods of six months. I even see this on some RE agencies´websites. Things are never strict in this country, it is really you expats who should think outside the box, talk to the RE agents ( not the ones that deal with tourists only btw ), landlords, etc.

It is possible to rent with a two year contract or three year commercial contract without a DNI. I did it but have a garantia which is hard to get. You can get around the garantia by offering to pay at least six months in advance but they may even ask for a year or the the whole two years up front.

You can find studios for less than $500 or less in almost every part of the city except for maybe Puerto Madero. There hard to come by if you don't speak Spanish and aren't willing to walk around and meet directly with owners or realtors. You can find a few properties for less than $500 at http://www.moveglobally.com/ although most of our clients properties list for much more.

Your best best is to find a roomate to live with for a few months while you look around. You might want to check out craigslist or http://www.spareroomsba.com/.
