It's always a shot in the dark to invest here but I'll be here coming years for most of the year so I've decided to buy a property. I'm looking for +- a flat starting at 60 m2, one or two sl.rooms, ready to move in, nearby the subte/green areas, sunlight is absolute a must. In Palermo, Almagro, Caballito, Villa Crespo, Recoleta, some areas of Once.
If you happen to know something let me know.

Is this a joke? Nobody is buying nothing, so everything is available. If I was you, I would rent until prices go down. If you still want to buy and can get a hold of dollars or euros, make sure you buy something reasonable prices in pesos

I humbly disagree with you, Nikad. If someone is traveling down and back it is really nice to know you have a home and the landlord isn't going to kick you out or raise your rent. And keeping a home here is relatively cheap, gas, water, taxes. Return on your investment can be measured in many ways.

With that said I am PM you a listing in Craig's list of an acquaintance of mine with a small place to sell on a nice street and neighborhood.

if I had the required funds, I will waste no time in buying a apartment here. As I intend spending a major part of life here in the future, so whats the point in waiting!

Plus nothing like yr own apartment where the landlord does not dictate the rules and guards of the building know that ur a owner and not just a tenant.

Even if your neighbors dont like u and u r a owner, they cant do much about it as u have equal rights.

use zonaprop.com and argenprop.com
there youll find tons of departments for sale. Thats how I find mine.

Ceviche, Judging by your profile pic and that you practice Krav Maga I would say your neighbors don't say shit to you!

The Argentine property market is highly overvalued. The reason being that it is one of the few places you can stash your money and protect against inflation.

If you believe the current government can continue their policies indefinitely then it should hold its value.

However if you believe that it is eventually going to blow up - and/or currency restrictions will eventually be relaxed or removed. That money will flow out of real estate like a tsunami seeking better returns.

We had the good fortune to buy our Palermo apartment in mid-2002. Now we regret not having bought another one.

When doing a search, keep an eye out for an apartment for sale directly by the owner (particular) instead of through an inmobiliaria agency. What you save in the commission is a signficant chunk in the thousands that you can use toward buying a better/larger/nicer property.
