Major national truckers strike this Monday.

A journalist friend has told me that the Strike Is OFF.

There goes the 3 days weekend leading into the 4 day weekend.

:-(

I wonder what kind of deal was made to call the strike off.

I wonder how many people are going to "work from home" anyway, because they were "unsure" whether or not they were supposed to come into the office.

And what about the people who decided on Thursday night to leave town for a week and go to their estancia, or Uruguay, or wherever, and call in sick Tuesday & Wednesday (or too sick to come in, but they can probably do something from home...) and were going to have a week+ vacation (9 days) for the cost of two sick days.

So is Monday an official holiday yet?

If so, then March 2011 will go down as the month with:

-two 4-day weekends
-one 3-day weekend

Talk about competing with the Chinese & Brazilians...

You've got to work work work.
You don't want to start enjoying life and fall behind the Jones'

"Hugo Moyano’s thugs also threatened the media and journalists"

What a great fair and unbiased newspaper.

Talking about deals to call off strikes - I am betting that pressure has been put on the judiciary here to delay releasing documents and details of accounts etc., to the the Swiss Authorities - A little back scratching I expect....

Bottom line, we are back to a good old fashioned Three Day Week next week - Strewth, I have to work for Three days... I'll be exhausted :)

And what do YOU call your peers if not "thugs"? Sounds pretty fair and unbiased to me.

From Websters:

THUG

a brutal ruffian or assassin (sounds 100% accurate)

Other Definitions:

an aggressive and violent young criminal...check

a violent and brutal person...check

There's an expression: "Calling a spade, 'a spade'."

That looks like what's going on here.

99.99999999% of the world's union leaders have at some stage engaged in some form of corrupt behavior....it is a well documented fact that they are statistically more prone to corruption....oh but some of the Moyano fan club here would have us believe that here in little old Argentina....we are the exception;)....where there's smoke, there's fire.

I don't know...but this comment sounds interesting....
"¿Que te pidieron a cambio Kris....la vicepresidencia quizás...?"

- What did they ask of you in return?....the vice-presidency?

Could be, we will find out. Hugo is like Jimmy Hoffa except being prosecuted and serving time he is invited to the table. Argentina is like the movie the Godfather except they are the people in charge instead of being the people being investigated, tried, and convicted.
