Manhattan Short Term Rental

Hi everyone!
I'm going to NYC the 2nd week of August. I'll be staying for 4 nights. I'm looking for a short term apartment for two adults in Manhattan. I've looked on craiglist but I don't seem to have the courage to rent anything without a recommendation. So, any recommendations that aren't too pricey???

August in NYC is like BA in January. If you go make sure to ask about the AC.

I went there last November for two weeks, stayed in LIC, much cheaper than Manhattan.
It's just a short subway ride under / over the river.
