March in Washington DC - 2

The majority of the "protesters" have no idea what the issues are. It consisted mostly of right wing, white trash lunatics who could not give direct examples of why they were even there. I think it is sad and tragic that nearly 50% of the American population are uneducated idiots who can not even define what a "czar" is, yet they are protesting.

I LOVE Barack Obama! I do not agree with everything he has done but I wouldn't with any President. After eight years of a stolen election, lies, thousands of Americans killed in Iraq and Afganistan (not to mention civilians) and and an administration that did not produce ONE positive thing....it is a complete relief to see someone in the White House with half a brain.
 
Someone who speaks well does not constitute a good president and there is absolutely no difference between Democrat and Republican and they all work for the same masters . There are many great people in the USA who understand that their government has been hijacked and is not working for their people.

In regards to the comments of Rmartinbuenosaires Barack Obama has increased wars not decreased them and is committing more troops into Afghanistan from his present 30000 to 60000 . Afghanistan today is in a worse state than a year ago with more deaths per day and more destruction. This is hardly a sign of a peaceful government. And wait a minute did he not promise to withdraw the troops from Afghanistan .

Where is the trillions of dollars printed to bail out big business and banks . It certainly has not trickled down to the little people of the USA where unemployment is growing, wages decreased and public services curtailed. And this is socialism ?

There are many new laws being pushed by the new administration that will curb peoples rights and many people are waking up to the reality of this government
They are not right wing white trash lunatics as you have tried to denigrate them with your childish remark but people concerned about their future and wish for a better society.

In the USA and the world people are waking up big time to the realities of governments and their goals and the opposition is getting stronger. To deny them their voice and to denigrate them shows the real goals of those who promote their warped sense of democracy.
 
My comments are addressed TO Americans. If you are not a U.S. citizen or do not pay taxes there, then your comments are irrelevant to me on how MY country is managed. I do not care how you perceive how WE should run our country for good or bad. It does not affect you whatsoever.

It does not matter who is President is for some foreigners. Get over it.

Although I empathize with RMartin, I must (as an American) say that, in fact, almost everything done in or by the United States affects the rest of the world, whether by reduction or alteration of foreign aid (including our gigantic purchases of inferior goods from abroad) or, regrettably, placement of troops in foreign lands.
 
If we go by the logic of RMartinBuenosAires people should not make comments about Argentina or Christina Kirchner since they are not paying taxes here or are residents. What happens in the USA affects the world and all its governments . To try to deny this fact shows ignorance.

I am very interested in all world politics and care about my fellow humanity and I will not be silenced by those who try to belittle with cheap comments or one line remarks.
 
Well, as a left of centre socialist myself, and a citizen of Ireland, but with a degree in American Studies and Politics, I feel I can throw in my two cents worth about the US and the state of play there. If I was American, I would have voted for Obama, and was a protestor against Bush and his policies, and do not follow RM's argument on that score at all. Of course the US President is important in a world state, not simply within the confines of the 50 States, and as such, we have a right to comment.

As Pericles says, if we followed the argument that we cannot comment on politics anywhere but in our native country (or where we pay tax), then I would not be allowed to criticise Chavez and his antics, or have a point to make about the "coup" in Honduras, or be critical of the North Korean, or Burmese governments, let alone Argentina.

I too, like Pericles, care about the global village, I might be coming from a different political perspective, but, as was once said by a far more learned European than I, "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it!"

As usual according to YOU, I am ignorant. Well perhaps a history lesson (since I have a degree in such) would inform you that if it had not been for the imperialistic United States, Australia would probably be a Japanese colony right now, instead of a Greek one.

I was under the misunderstanding that this board was about expats living in Argentina? By the way, I DO PAY TAXES in Argentina.

I believe with a degree in History and 20 years of serving MY country in the U.S. military gives me a bit more knowledge on the topic of MY country rather than useless babble.

I am SURE this post will be deleted.

You were under misunderstanding that this board is only for AMERICAN expats living in Argentina. And it is not only Americans who are allowed to read and reply to your posts here.

I am sure years you spent in the army gave you unique understanding of american politics, but that does not really mean that you can just say "shut up" to anybody who disagrees with you.

Our forum is for people who are interested in Argentina, regardless of their immigration status. And yes, they can discuss world politics as well.

Actually, he is (not that it is any of your business). Anticipating your next argument, I am a resident as well.
But still being a resident is not a requirement to express your opinions here. Being able to present your point of view in a polite way and without calling names, actually, is a requirement.

Your comments are laughable and as always you strive for the insult showing your lack of intelligence or decorum in the art of debate. In regards to your comments on Australia most Australians would find your comments patronising and your remark about Greek colony is this directed to me or the huge greek community that makes Australia home?

For your information nor that it has absolutely anything to do with the topic I am a resident of Argentina RMartinBuenosaires and pay taxes here monthly. Is this a tactic of some to question their immigration status for daring to disagree with their opinions. Its ironic but they always are seem to preach democracy even though they are the antithesis of the word democracy.

In regards to you serving the American Military Im sure you would know that many in Argentina and Chile and many more countries of South America know how much you have served your country with your support of Pinochet, Stroessner, Jorge Rafael Videla and Emilio Massera but with your degree in history Im sure...... you understand Latin Americas tragic history.
 
This is an interesting thread. However, it does raise some questions. Even though the US is going through some problems at the moment the United States is still the most sought after country to move to in the world. Where do most people want to go? The United States. To work. To get ahead. To become residents. To become citizens. To raise their families.

Most people are not moving to Argentina. They are moving to the US. And, by the way, I wonder how many of you actually saw the movie IOUSA. It was great.
