Medical Plans

Depending on how long you are here and if you have pre-existing conditions, you may want to get a low level plan at one of the local hospitals.

Keep in mind, worst case as well, there is free public health care here as well if you needed some type of emergency care (and in serious emergencies involving critical care, you might have better luck at a public hospital). And you could pay out of pocket for routine medical care or a regular check. It would in fact probably wind up cheaper if you're only here for a year or so.

This, essentially, is what my doctor told me today...and I'm planning to be here for the rest of my life.

We are looking for coverage- she's coming towards the end of the year. Prices aren't listed on any of the sites so I was hoping to get an idea of who people would recommend and what prices are like.

My fiancee uses the Plan Medico A7 of Hospital Aleman (the German Hospital, av Pueyrredon 1640). It costs 800 peso per month. She applied for it couple of months ago, when she was pregnant (because of pregnancy there was an initial fee added) and it 100% covered everything she needed - visits, tests, home visits plus 60% discount for prescriptions in hospital farmacia etc. We were truly satisfied with it, as all the doctors spoke english and the service was perfect. Great comfort. Now she wants to switch to some cheaper plan, as she's in great condition after el parto and doesn't need such complex care.

The price of 800 peso/month is for under 26 years old. The one for under 30 was 1099 peso. The others I don't know.
