Does anyone know if Medicus has the equivalent of a walk-in clinic? I have basic Medicus insurance here, but never got a primary-care physician. I'm now sick and would like to see a doctor. What's the recommended way to do that? Go to one of the Medicus hospitals, make an appointment with a random doctor, something else?

Thanks.

You should have a booklet "cartilla" with the list of health providers workng with Medicus. If you need a specialist you should call and make an appointment first. Otherwise, pick a Clinic or Hospital close to you.

If you state your location, maybe someone here will tell you what is close and has a good rep.

You can also call Medicus and ask them or check their website,

Sometimes you must pay a small partial fee, a co-payement.

Thanks. This was my main question: Are the hospitals (I'm near Plaza Italia) designed for walk-in services (ie. people who need antibiotics, or the like). I don't want to abuse emergency services, if they're meant to be for emergencies...

No Iznogud, you r are giving wrongful advice! Sgarlow, you can go to Centro Medicus Azcuenaga and see a doctor there right away.

Not all plans work with the same hospitals, and the hospitals and clinics provide different services. You have to go to one that has a " guardia clinica ". With Medicus the easiest is to go to a Centro Medicus ( Azcuenaga or Belgrano ) if you have a plan higher than white you can go to Sanatorio Otamendi and a few others.

Look here http://www.medicus.com.ar/cartilla.php under Urgencias for a list that is compatible with your plan.

nikad, mine ain't wrong. Might not be the best one, though.

Was trying to stay close-by nd advised to contact Medicus or check their booklet first. Where did I go wrong?

Thanks. I have the basic plan, so I'll try the guardia clinica. That's what I needed to know.

My Medicus plan has a number to call and they will send a doctor to your house.I don't know if this is true for all plans, but it is worth a try. The system is set up for this, so it is not an abuse of it.
