Meeting Women (to date)

I'm not looking for women as I'm happily manacled to a beautiful Argentine lady.....but.
I run a computer shop and I've seen all types come through the door, including some very beautiful women/girls.
Of course they immediately twig that I'm foreign and always ask if I'm from USA and I tell them I'm British and they then go on about how much they like my accent...blah de blah, swoon swoon. It's an eye opener.
I think what I'm really trying to say is (to the orig poster) to work on the perceived strengths in your character.
I've always found that the ladies here find we gringos somewhat of a novelty. Which is why one of the first things my lady said to me when i moved here was 'Cuidado con las minas!!!!'
I jest not. Argentine women are very possessive and extremely jealous. One look in the wrong direction and you're dead meat.

An understatement: dead meat. Do not, repeat, do not let your eyes wander. The wrath of God will be upon you.

Other options to date young and not empty head women could be sneaking in at the Malba events, Centro Cultural Recoleta openings or Cine Gaumont. Try specific social networks like match.com or tagged.com, where on your profile you post your requirements and you look at her (updated) picture, and go through her profile before saying hi. And you chat on line (interview if you wish) before going out, so you dont lost a lot of time on a date with a boring woman.

Men also are very possessive, bossy and terribly suffocating but women here seem to enjoy that " lack of space." very hard for an independent woman

Wow...PostModernChild.......Thats a really charged response.........I think you've made a very short sighted evaluation that doesn't represent us all...

This is actually scientifically double-blind proven to be impossible. It's like trying to hold your breath - you can do it but it will take attention 100% of the time. Another strategy is needed. Bigger tits, more jealous is my theory. You heard it here first.

Agreed. Pushy, arrogance, dominance, all simpler. I can't get used to doing what the heck I like all the time without listening or asking for her opinion, it feels really weird! ...but totally got to do it to survive. I imagine Argentine guys might have a problem the other way round. I'd love to hear that side.

Anyway, it's friends do it too, is the impression I'm getting and that's something that takes either time or a decent solid roll of confidence to build.

Do not use online services. In Argentina we don´t do this, unless you are old, a serious loser, or Jewish (as I am, so the girls that want to marry Jewish use the site whose name I cannot remember now). If you go to the Malba, orany activity of the Centro Cultural Rojas (the cultural center of the Buenos Aires University), or to La Bomba de Tiempo in Mondays in the Konex center, you will surely meet people that are not brain-dead. And being a foreigner with an english-speaking accent is a plus. When they (surely) ask: "How much time are you going to stay in Arg.?", you answer: "I am thinking that maybe I will stay to live here, I don´t know yet". It is not true that girls in bars are workers, this only happens in Recoleta places or places for old people with money. We call those girls "gatos" (cats).

The other solution: Do you know the city of Rosario? You will be surprised.

By the way, you can come to the meetings-parties of Couchsurfing.org, of course everything is free, look for the activities in the Buenos Aires group, we are almost all between 20-35 yrs old.

My comment was intended to be taken in a humorous light because the scenery in Argentina makes it almost impossible for this harmless old dawg to ignore. Happy for your independence.

I first visited Buenos Aires about four years ago. Since the first visit, have racked up about 238000 frequent flier miles to Buenos Aires. I ain't going through all that airline BS just to sample the pasta in BA. You figure it out.:)
