Radio stations will have to play a minimum of 30% nationally produced music.
Jeez, you couldn't make it up.

I tend to agree with you but, in fairness, Argentina would not be the only guilty party: https://en.wikipedia...n_content#Radio

Not all the countries that do this are authoritarian. They include Australia, Philippines, Mexico, Nigeria, Israel, South Africa, Jamaica, Venezuela, Russia and NZ (per the same source).

This is not the 1st time that this has happened in Argentina.I don't remember exactly when but there was also a regulation some years back that all dubbing of TV programs and, I thnk ,movies had to be done in Argentina. The justification was that Argentine audiences had difficulty in understanding the accents in Spanish (from Spain itself) and Mexico where most of the imported TV series and films were then imported. Also, thanks to Ajo for his clarification.Give credit where credit is due.

This raises some potentially interesting legal questions, i.e. the definition of "producción nacional" - are they using the word "production" in the sense that the music industry does? Gustavo Santaolalla, for instance, lives in Los Angeles and is a music "producer" for many non-Argentine artists; could music by Café Tacuba then count as "producción nacional?" If foreign artists choose to record in Buenos Aires, would anything they do also be "producción nacional?"

Back in 82 there was a complete ban on all foreign music(in English), started when tensions between Argentina and Great Britain over the falklands got hot and heavy, that lasted for about a year and i don't know if that ban was actually ever lifted officially....... so don't be alarmed they have been this dumb before,,
