Moving In Sept! Any Advice?

Where is it possible to find those expat group schemes? 600 pesos is damn cheap indeed (considering we have about the same age)

Good question. When I asked about an expat plan at Medicus very recently, the woman told me she had no idea what I was talking about, that they take anyone so there's no need for a special plan for foreigners. Someone just has a connection there and hooks their friends up is my best guess as to these "expat group schemes." Such is life in Argentina. Connections get you everywhere.

The key words here are medicus, expat and connection...

Here everyone, the mystery of the expat Medicus plan is solved: http://www.expat-connection.com/localins

There would be no significant savings for me unless they've magically frozen the prices to be inflation-proof. Whether you have to go to Expat Connection events or pay a membership fee with them remains a mystery. The event calendar has been empty since April 2012 and it looks like the rest of the site hasn't been updated since 2009. No surprise there. But if I weren't planning to be out of here by the end of the year at the latest, I'd definitely write to them and get more details.

they charge a small fee when you sign up. The monthly fees are way cheaper than otherwise. It is a group plan.

Hi all,

Thought I'd revive this thread as I finally arrived in Bs.As (2 months later than planned)

I know a few were eager to know how I'd get on with such a small budget for food, as well as medical insurance expenses etc. Once I get settled in and actually verify that I can do it, I'll post a few details which should hopefully shed some light and perhaps even help others.

Grateful for all the advice received as it definitely made me look into and plan for lot of things I hadn't thought of.

Looking forward to meeting everyone at next meetup.

Cheers!
