Movistar Charges

I get the same Joe and it appears to be legalised theft, so I went to a Movistar shop in Martinez to ask them how to deal with the disappearing credit and they told me to call customers services #611 which I had already done and spoke to a five year old who knew diddly. They then said go to the huge Movistar building on Santa Fe, San Isidro which I won't be doing, because the last time I went there, I was there so long that I considered changing my address.
In the end I sent an SMS to those #19114 #19116 with the message BAJA, but they reappeared and it seems you have to keep doing it.
On prepago you can also include 2 numbers to call free of charge, which i did but that freebie also has expiry and you have to keep repeating these ludicrous actions.
The double your money expires after a week IE the gifted amount does.
SMS are now 0.85$ and all I do now is use Whatsapp and top up the phone with an absolute basic amount and never take up any of their f**ing offers.

Although I don't have Movistar a few things I've observed: first Saldo can also mean "credit" or amount remaining (balance), so it can mean for example you have 20 pesos of credit left, OR it can mean you owe that amount. That depends on the usual form of the bill and if the number is a negative or positive.
Could those charges be the costs of downloaded text files, or more costly files that contain photos? That'll make your Saldo disappear faster than you can say "whatsapp". Sometimes it's also the cost of the service "looking" for your mail or other notices when not on Wifi. My suggestion, if you have a friend with a DNI find out if they'd be willing to sign for a plan for you. I never once paid overage charges using Personal Black, but there's other cheaper plans as well. Good luck

I've sent several tramites to Movistar online to delete all my subscriptions (they say they've been deleted) but as soon as I put 50 pesos it is gone in a few hours - with the phone sitting totally idle.

Thanks to a suggestion at the coffee chat, I'm going in to a big Movistar office. I guess the closest one to me is Alto Palermo - I'm near the zoo.

I am going to use the opportunity to vent some pent up anger - any suggestions on how to be a major nuisance?

Please, let us know how it went. I have identical issues with my phone (Movistar). I had the pre-paid SIM card for 2 years and this nightmare started about 1.5 month ago. I don´t even bother to recharge my phone anymore. But also, I don´t want to buy another SIM with a different company - I want to keep my number. I was going to the tech support office in Palermo on Friday to find out what is going on.

For Movistar only: Generally the charges come from those text ads offering you services, but what they're really saying is if you don't reply with BAJA we're just going to deduct this amount from your account, so pretty much every time you get a ad text you need to reply BAJA. The balance will usually last for at least 30 days, even the promo ones, and you should get a text indicating your new balance when you add $, though I do not get one every time. Otherwise you can just text SALDO to 444 and get a free balance update once a day.

do I have to reply BAJA to every add text message I get? I was just deleting them. And why all of the sudden I started getting them?

Great info Balt.

I'm going to print out my charges from the web page.

I feel bad for the Movistar employees. My Spanish is get enough to say "I don't like this and it's unfair", but not really at the level that I can say "I know this is not your fault Movistar employee but the company you work for is unethical. So please don't take it personally."

I have the same issues with Personal. Get lot of adds and the balance seems to evaporate.

How to check the daily balance?

and how to stop the adds?

OMG ! Is that you Ceviche-san ? Wow, you have shed off a few pounds !

Yes, I have been on a diet and slimming down the extra pounds to become more attractive to the pretty girls on this site who rejected me for the extra pounds I carried. This is my fresh attempt in winning their love.
