It is said 3500 species of orchids about 10% of the orchids in the world can be found here in Moyobamba. I love growing orchids but more so in appreciating all of them when possible too. Has anyone in this forum been to this particular area of Peru.
My plan is to fly into Tarapoto, Peru. If possible I would like to rent a car or truck -- I do not know how the winding roads are in this area. I am interested in understanding about my safety not just in the condition of the roads which perhaps are fine but whether there is any problems of robbery which would discourage me from driving there.
The area beyond Tarapoto both towards Yurimaguas and also to Chachapoyas all looks very interesting too.
If any of you have specific knowledge relating to this area, it would be of great use to me.
My thought was to be there the first week of June. Any thoughts would be useful to me.
