RWS, well said, I like living in Argentina and accept the good and the bad just like any other place in the world. I also have been saddened by the negative comments made about Argentina and its government by hypocritical people from other places. There is no perfect society and perfect government . Look at you own backyard before you have the temerity to critisize Argentina for nationalising its airlines and a 800 thousand dollar suitcase .
USA has bailed out the biggest risk takers in world history where greed is king and with a figure in the hundreds of billiions of dollars and people here are comparing Christina to some evil dictator. Get real guys.
I happen to like Christina Fernandez Kirchner and believe her to be an progressive president. Over time she will make here mark and many here will bite their words
There is much more freedom of expression in Argentina than USA and most of the world .

Pericles... tell that to julio lópez. Freedom of speech is pretty limited in Argentina. Look at how the people on the plaza de mayo were desplaced by Piqueteros K, check reports on how local media is being blackmailed by the government not to publicize negative comments about the current government. Or the INDEC scandal.

As long as you don't touch powerful peoples interests you can say what you want, but don't tell me freedom of speech is more limited here than in the USA.

Reemster freedom of expression in Argentina is alive and kicking. Tell me have you seen in USA rallies of 300 thousand people against the government . Would they allow this ? I was at the rally against the goverenment in Palermo that had not one Policeman nor one person repressing their right to demonstrate. Can you tell me would the Vice President of the USA vote against his own government . Democracy is happening here and there are real freedoms. By the way why are the Portenos amongst the worlds most opiniated people and proud of it . This is hardly a sign of a closed society.

Yes, Pericles, the US government allows demonstrations against the government! And they provide police protection in the event of violence, something that should be done here where there are protesters wearing masks and wielding clubs.

All I know right now is that the US is a total mess. Argentina went through their rought time and came out of it with flying colors.......look at the economic growth factor each year since the default. Let's see how the US fares in the coming years. I doubt things will go as well. Buenos Aires improves every day, Mauricio Macri is doing a GREAT job of taking care of the infrastructure, new subway stations, new sidewalks. Are all perfect? No. But they are working towards making things as good as they can in a huge metropolis of millions of people. One additional thing I like about Cristina K. is that when she speaks, she often invokes the names of past figures in Argentine politics and what their views were. American politicians would NEVER do this because they are too egotistical. To the expats currently living in Argentina, love it or leave it. We don't need ANY negativity here.

I do not agree with you on this one as I have been to many rallies here that were against the government and have not encountered any thugs or repression There was a rally with Luis De Elia where violence was used by his supporters but this in my experience has been an isolated event.
Tell me have you seen a City where people can protest so freely like in Buenos Aires? I know that in most societies that this is not allowed and my own experience in Australia showed the hypocrisy of so called free societies.

The US allows protests and it always has - it's an American tradition going back to the founding of the republic. Simple as that. Argentina also allows protests and they allow the presence of masked protesters who wield clubs. Quebracho is the main group of these extremists. If you do not know about this group and have not seen them on the streets, at least on TV, you have not been following the news.

Comrades, your solidarity in defending the socialist principles of Cristina's(or is it Nestors) government have me convinced. My past criticisms of Argentina's dear leaders were ideological errors brought on by yankee imperalists planted inside of Argentina by the CIA. Once the power of your dear leaders can be consolidated by the final elimanation of what remains of the so-called democratic intitutions i.e. Congress, Courts, etc. a true workers paradise will be created.
Those anti-social elements posting criticisms or lies about our dear leaders can be dealt with then. I am afraid many of the people posting here have had their thinking permanently warped by to many years of of listening to imperialist capitalist stooges, I'm afraid most of these people will simply have to be liquidated.
Long live Cristina and Nestor! May they rule forever!
