My Company tells me this - is it true?

It's not only legal but expected of you to take a blood test. I have a friend with AIDS and every time he changes jobs he has a friend in the laboratory where he has his blood drawn changed for someone else's. It's illegal to discriminate against someone with HIV or AIDS, but obviously it happens regardless of the protection laws.

Wouldn't this be illegal as well ? Not as much for your friend but the medical " professional " running a false negative scam ? You do know your " friend " might be able to use those fake tests for other things as well right ? Like possibly showing it to other sexual partners.

You are correct. And this proves the lack of validity regarding bio data invasion. I can see the employers point of view, however, any time anyone gets their hands on bio data there is a chance for misuse, misinterpretation or misappropriation.
Conversely, employees will invent 100s of ways to beat the tests. [ask any Olympian]

When a company sends you to do a medical exam, they pick the clinic, so it's very strange that you can always fudge the results... Most of the medical screening is done in specialized labs that cater to companies, and only do exams for labor purposes.

I think it's a little more than " fudging ". It's something that can put public health at risk and in the US it would be considered medical malpractice. And if anyone found out the name of the clinic running this scam they would get their license pulled and OSHA would probably shut them down permanently. Not to mention their would also be criminal liability.

Not exactly " fudging ".

But this is not the states... So believe me here it would be a legal mess, that would end up with no major consequences for the clinic, except $$$...

That would depend on whether the information was made public to the media. Then there would be serious problems. But if no one found out, I am sure you are correct.

Bump.

Does anybody know if you can elect to have your family doctor or clinic provide the results rather than going to a testing center of the employer's choice?

Philip - Not possible. To avoid any issues, employers send all of their employees to the same medical clinic to receive the same tests.

I swear every part of this country is designed to make people stand in line for hours.
