Hey everyone, I'm reaching out for some advice. I'm currently living in Argentina with a local SIM card and plan, but I need a US phone number to receive texts from my bank. I've tried using Google Voice, but unfortunately, it doesn't work for my bank's verification process.

Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for obtaining a US phone number that can receive texts while living abroad?

Maybe an Esim?

Thanks. I saw posts about Tello on the forum before, but here it is explained very clear

We got a e-Sim card from Mint Mobile. Paid anual at senior rate. And selected wifi calls. With it and a physical SIM card from prepaid service here, we are doing fine.

Do I need to be in the US to sign up for a Tello phone number or it may be done from here? I have been using Vonage for the past 15 years and my equipment recently died.

Yes. If your phone supports eSIM, you can sign up for Tello and activate it from Argentina - or from any other country, for that matter.

Hi! I have a similar issue. I use Google Voice to call the US, even though I have a new phone # here in BA. I am thinking I will use the extra Tello SIM I brought from the US to go with one of my banks. Also, there is an e-sim provider called Saily. My phone was not compatible so I will use my old phone and the Tello sim.

Silvie, Vonage also has iPhone and Android app you can install, as well as the abilty to use your Vonage account on Your comouter for calls. There is no need for the Vonage hardware device, though I do like the hardware to be able to plug in a simple old fashion land line phone.
