Need US phone number

I need to have a US phone number here. That is, a number which would be a local call from the US.

Any ideas? Thanks
 
Callcentric...used them for 15 years or so...can get sms text also but remember many financial institutions do not accept voip numbers at all. You can forward to any number in the world also...plus it cost $2.99 a month and an extra $1 for sms.

This is what I use, but need to have a US number 1st to set it up.
After its setup the you can delink the US number. I used a friend's number to go through the setup process and was able to delink it immediately.

Google voice offers SMS which is great.
