Netflix's Fight Against Vpns

I use an app called Player Extreme to view my movies on iPad.

First, I download the movie on my computer, then I connect my iPad to the computer and open iTunes. There I drag the movie file in the file folder of Player Extreme.

This app has some inapp purchases such as for viewing subtitles or boost you audio (something useful if you want to watch your movie on a plane). The only downside is that movies for computers are usually bigger and take much space on my little iPad with just 16 GB of memory (I think I just have 3 gb free at the moment). Of course, you can compress the file for iPad (reduce screen ratio - reduce file size) on your computer before transferring, but it is quite time consuming.

For streaming at home, I use VLC and the app VLC pal.

For streaming from the interned (such as TED video streamed through they app, YouTube videos, etc) I have no buffering issue, but that depends from your connection and not from your iPad!

Plex has a feature called Plex Sync that will download movies to the iPad for offline viewing.

You can also add movies to iTunes and sync that way. I've done that before.

As far as synching through iTunes, I wouldn't do it with any movie files that weren't digitally signed or something (can't remember what the deal was). Yes, I was trying to put pirated movies on my iPad :) I haven't tried in a couple of years though, and maybe I was doing something wrong.

HandBrake is a great app for converting movies to mp4 format, then transfer to iPad...

This is a great reason to ditch the iPad in favor of something useful. My toaster has 16 gig.

I'm totally ignorant when it comes to the subjects of streaming, downloading, etc., so I might as well throw this question to everyone here.

I have NetflixLA, which I view it via a Sony Smart Tv. Of course, I'd like very much to view NetflixUSA instead.

Can anyone give me an idea as to how I can go about this without using either an iphone type celular or iPad, neither of which I have.

Any suggestions or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

You need to use a VPN service to mask your location (Argentina) and make it looks like you are in the US.

You can use this free VPN from your browser: HOLA (http://hola.org/). It installs an extension on your web browser (Chrome Firefox, IExplorer, whatever). When you activate the VPN, access netflix.com and instead of being redirected to the LA site, you will remain on the US site.

I am not sure about VPN and smart TVs, though (I have gone TV-less since 3 years).

With a SmartTV, the simplest solution is a DNS changer. I use UnoTelly. You'd have to check and see if the Sony TV lets you change the DNS settings (most devices do). This is really the simplest way.

If you cannot change the DNS on your TV, you may be able to on your WiFi router and get the same result.
