New Electric Bill Arrived: And The Total Is....

Our last bill: 388 kWh and $30,87 to pay.

But it says that the increases are momentarily suspended in the Province of Buenos Aires because of a judge order.
So we are paying the same as before, but in case the court case is not in our favor, we will have to pay also for these 'free ride' months.

My two most recent electric bills (for two months each) were $242.97 for 213 kwh and $192.74 for 185 kwh, My usage went down and so did the rate per kwh (from .5685 to .4531).

The current bill shows a charge of $158 pesos for electricity consumed and just under $35 pesos in taxes. The taxes are now a much lower percentage of the bill than a year ago.

The municipal tax increased from $268 (amount paid with the 30% discount in 2016) to $626 (amount paid with a 20% discount in 2017).

I know the prices have jumped by a great percentage. But they are still way cheaper than the US.

So I just got my bill from from dec 2 to feb 2 and it includes a massive discount for saving electricity.

Huge.

Really if you cut your use by 20% you don't even pay more than last year. In fact I'm pretty sure I'm paying less.

Cargo fijo : 66,90
Cargo Variable: 1315,57
Res ENRE 347/12: 0,00

Bonificación por ahorro : -805,95. !!!

IVA: 121,07
Contribución Municipal: 36,80

Total: 734,39

So go out and buy some LEDs if you think you can knock yourself down in to the discounted rate. Worth it.

I finally got a bill with new rates that are about 50% higher

My latest bill (for 62 days) arrived today. I used 219 kh and the rate jumped to .7911 per kh. The charge for electricity used plus fees is $336.

The tasa de alumbrado publico is back and the charge is now 55 pesos per month, so that adds $110.

The four taxes (including IVA) total $105 and the total bill is $551.

The current bill is more than double the bill I received in December for almost the same amount of electricity consumed.

Even with the increase and a stagnant exchange rate, I am still paying less than $20 a month for electricity.

In 2006 I was living in Sayulita, Nayarit, Mexico and I was paying more than $100 per month for electricity.

My monthly elec bill is 80 pesos a month.

In december 2015 it was 50 pesos a month.
