No alcohol sold after 8:00 AM Friday and until 6:00 PM Sunday.. That includes beer and spirits.
So maybe now is a good time to stock up on your favorite “Vino”... This is because of legislative election voting on Sunday.
This also applies to bars and restaurants. It's called "Veda Electoral".

This isn't actually true, about 50 % of Chinos will sell you alcohol, keep trying and you'll find one soon enough. I've been here a long time and never had a problem getting alcohol on an election weekend with a bit of effort.

An amusing anecdote from a few years ago I went into a Chino and took a bottle of vodka off the shelf, the Chinese dude yelled at me "amigo no no no." I walked across the road one block to another Chino and there was a policeman literally inside the shop standing at the end of the alcohol aisle.

I did a lap of the supermarket and then thought to myself "well who cares, the worst that can happen is he tells you to put it back." So I picked up a bottle of vodka literally right under his nose, he didn't gaf, then I walked to the front and paid no questions asked lmao

The big supermarkets physically remove the bottles from the shelves. In a neighbourhood Chino they can't take down thousands of bottles for a few days ( Where would they even store them ) so it's all available then up to the girl at the cash register to refuse you. The same girl who only looks up from her phone long enough to verify your payment, they don't care.

Technically veda starts tomorrow at 8.00 am when candidates cannot keep campaigning, not TV appearances, commercials, etc. You are not allowed to buy alcohol starting Saturday 8.00 pm. until Sunday 8 pm.

Permanent Residents can vote on Sunday. Find out

Isn't that from 8 pm on Saturday?

It’s from 8pm Saturday. You can usually get booze in a chino or 24 hour kiosko. I even went to a private party organised in 2019 the day before Alberto Fernandez won, felt more like a boliche.
