I bought a phone at one of the two big electronics chains. (Not Friv...., but Garbarino) in the Alto Palermo "Shopping" (Mall) and I got a Movistar SIM card from them with the phone. Registered to my name. If I lose it, I can get it back.
Maybe try one of those places. You may have to buy a new phone to get the chip. They can be had for about AR$150... I think.
