Has there been any update regarding overstay news? Has anyone also overstayed and been banned recently? I read the post from Vossos and was wondering after two months if there has been any updates regarding cases like this.

I’m from the US and I have overstayed back in 2022 and have been back to the country five times after that my most recent stay being October 2025. Of those five returns I have only stayed for about 2-3 weeks at a time and never had issues regarding rentry or leaving the country. After my overstay the first I paid my fee and was given a stern talking to about overstay and didn’t overstay after.

I plan to return sometime at the end of this year to visit my wife’s family but I’m worried and curious if there have been any other cases like this. Any help or advice would be very helpful. Thank you.

If you got an AR wife there shouldn’t be any problems.

How is anyone seriously going to know or give you an answer to this? I never understand why people think overstaying is at all the smart play no matter how lax a country is with paying fines etc.

For other people who have overstayed and have experience visiting in the last year.

A lot of expats were rejected at the border. However the DNU was declared null & void so now nobody nows how to proceed.

Sounds like no one knows, but please come back to the Forum and let us know what happens!

Hi Hector,
I assume from Lanicks post above that you, as do I, have an Argentine spouse. In reading the chicken little posts on this forum, I previously imagined getting refused entry at EZE, which motivated me to action on securing a more permanent visa. Although I’ve never has an issue entering the country. But in the process I learned that things have changed in the last couple of years, and according to the Arg. bureaucrats we talked with (who weren’t too covert in their dislike of the current president) it used to be a slam dunk if you have an Argentine spouse, but that’s no longer the case.
Nonetheless, they told me that once you begin the process, unless you are refused a temporary resident visa, or are out I’ve country for over 180 out of the previous 360 days, not to sweat your re-entry. But this is my experience, I’m no expert.
