If someone tests positive for COV-19 (a test which is notoriously inaccurate), a lot of localities are designating the death as COV-19 regardless of how they died: pneumonia, heart attack, regular flu, cancer, etc. Also watch for the number of these types of deaths to be lower than in a normal year.

And loads of people are dying without ever being tested, so they're not included in the official tallies. You can look at many stories about this phenomenon in Italy, where deaths are probably 3x higher than officially reported. We know that the same is taking place in China.

Argentine Covid-19 deaths will end up being low because of the extraordinary measures the government took, but also because there just were as many infected people visiting Argentina.

For sure, the risk to Argentina is mostly as a result of the economic shutdown. There's no credit available for Argentina. There's nothing to sell, noone to tax. Exports will take years to recover as the global economy shakes all this off, imports will be punitively taxed. Even losing a few thousand people is nothing compared with the reckoning coming. If suicides jump just 10%, that's it.

New Zealand, leading by example, with a quarantine protocol that looks a lot like, sounds like Argentina. NZ has gone full quarantine and sealed their borders. And they're said to be 'SQUASHING the curve". Hold the course Argentina!

Having a tiny population and no neighbors really helps.

I have worked in a hospital for many years as a Nurse and believe that there is something very fishy going on with the statistics as well as the anomalies in the cases in the world . How can China eradicate the virus within a few months and why is it now destroying the cities that are the heart of capitalism London and New York . It seems very convenient as to mark a new economic system in the world and destroy capitalism as we know it . The lockdown is counterproductive as the best idea is to develop herd inmunity with the younger population and isolate the older people . To shut down all economies is suicide and will definetely kill 10 times as more people than the virus !

I agree to an extent, but this theory only works on the assumption China is being honest about its current situation. There are conflicting reports on whether it has eradicated the virus, how many people died, how many people were infected, how many people are infected, and how many are still dying. China being the big winner in all this is only true if the country is not lying. The track record of China means I won't give them the benefit of the doubt.

‘Universal stay-at-home is the most devastating economic force in modern history And it is man-made. It very suddenly reverses the gains of underprivileged groups, kills and creates drug addicts, beats and terrorizes women and children in violent now-jobless households, and more. It bleeds deep anguish and suicide.’

Part of the problem is the health care professionals and bureaucrats making the decisions work in academia and government with absolute job security and have no feeling for people running small businesses or working at entry level jobs. They haven't experienced the emotional devastation of getting laid off or having your business fail.

The shutdowns in Europe and the US are designed to give us time to ramp up hospital treatment capacity, as much as they are to let the virus die off. But that's a luxury that we bought by - literally - hundreds of years of good governance.

Human lives are all valuable, yadda yadda. But the simple fact is that a country like Argentina cannot afford to shut down like the normal countries have. Further nuking one of the worst economies in the semi-developed world? It's better just to have older people stay inside.

These are the sorts of things that separate the rich from the poor, and the rich countries from the poor countries.

Please be sure to post again from your ventilator so we can hear more about abstract social issues when you're dying from Coronavirus because you objected to a period of universal stay-at-home during the pandemic.

Venezuelan military ship shoots at and rams cruise ship and Venezuelan ship sinks in Caribbean:

If a warship attacks an unarmed civilian vessels and ends up being the one that is sunk during the process, maybe it is time to disband your navy.
