Is it still possible for an American to get a peso-denominated bank account down here now? It was a few years ago but wondering if things changed.

Whats the process like roughly?

I'm not asking if it's WISE to get a bank account...

Thanks!

I would think that most people's response would be:

"Is it possible for an expat to use the [SEARCH] option on baexpats.org?"

Thanks!

Go to bank and try it without a DNI.
Let us know how you did.

Like Napoleon said, use the search function as there are some recent posts about this. When it comes to banks, no two are the same even within the same brand. So you'll have to go around. Most will require a DNI, but you *may* still find some that will let you open a savings account with just a passport, a CDI and a couple utility bills. My suggestion is to go branches where they are used to dealing with foreigners (e.g. Puerto Madero). Good luck!
