President Sanchez of Spain Visits Bs. As.

Do you deny that Argentina is the most European country genetically and culturally in LatAm?

Whether it is or it isn't is besides the point. The points are:

1. Argentina never was and will never be be a pure white European country, either culturally or genetically, no matter how badly people like you try to erase or distort history. Argentina will always be melting pot of different cultures, including Amerindian and black.
2. Mexico and Brazil are not ethnically and culturally monolithic (Indians and Jungle). They both have massive influx of immigrants from all over the world.
3. There is no "racial exceptionalism" in Argentina. Argentina is as unique and special as every other country in the region. Not better or worse, just different.
4. Too bad there is no time machine to take you back to those 1930s Nazi rallies in Luna Park. You are stuck on the here and now. Too bad for you.

My family is a "Heinz 57" mix of everything under the sun. There are two native American women that we know among my ancestors, one Blackfoot and one Cherokee. And I have always thought of this as fairly typical of most people in the USA. So the idea that people get all excited about this seems to me a bit...surprising.

It all seems to me like, "Well, yeah, of course. So what?"

I guess it's one more of those cultural differences.

Your question should be inmaterial. Unfortunately, the arrogance and racism shown by Fernandez is very prevalent in Argentina's upper social classes. It's sad and says much about people's low self esteem if they have to rely on historical genetics to feel special.

But he did not say Argentina is the most European country genetically, if he had, it would have been a pointless but nonetheless "meh" thing to say. He was suggesting something entirely different.

I mean for those who are saying that this is no big deal and that technically the biggest component of the population are European heritage, I would encourage you to consider what you'd think if President Biden were to say the exact same thing, which would also technically be true. It is disrespectful to minorities and indigenous people, minimizes their contributions and future opportunities. Argentina like many other Latin American and North American countries is a nation of people with a wide range of backgrounds and they all need to be included in what makes up the country. This is the exact arrogance that makes Argentines think they are extra special and superior to their neighbors and creates internal divisions and hurts the development of the country.

Something that drives me crazy is that the socialist/indigenous rights groups that endlessly protest and demand to be heard that are aligned with Peronismo will stay silent or release some softly worded statements in reaction to this. Imagine if Macri said the same thing...

Bolsonaro's response to Alberto.

Jair Bolsonaro respondió a los polémicos dichos de Alberto Fernández con una ironía

Be proud. At least you're more "native" than Elizabeth Warren.
