Punta del Este - thoughts?

Nice place for a vacation for a family with a newborn? Or it crowded and loud like South Beach?

As long as you don’t go between Christmas and the end of January, it can be quite lovely. There’s a nice drive up to Punta del Diablo, which we actually preferred.

Hello. I am writing right now from Punta del Este. There are many tourists here but the big crowd left after “carnaval” which ended on Tuesday. Right now it looks perfect and I love it here. I am in Peninusla and it’s fantastic.

I lived there for several years it is a great very natural place. We lived in La Barra which is about 15 minutes north of Punta. I bit more of a family place and you can out go shopping, dining etc in either Punta or Maldanado which is about half the price of Punta. Both locations are about the same distance. I would recommend La Barra. It is a small artsy beach town with great beaches and views.
