The best thing here is not having to see Halloween costumes.
Then don't come to Mendoza around October 31st.

A couple of years ago I was disguised as the devil (it comes naturally to me).
I entered a taxi and the driver asked "Dónde?". When I answered "abajo" and pointed down, he was rolling on the floor.

If the "devil" exists I'll bet he doesn't look at all like a clown in red cape. And I'll bet he doesn't have much of sense of humor either.

In my experience equally or even more likely to be a "she" ... but with better dress sense than as described :)

As for humour well that didn't tend to be the attribute I remember ever being first to be noticed :eek:

12 other reasons to be happy on my part:

Everyday life:
1. Good public transport, numerous bus routes, late buses
2. Numerous taxis with completely objective tariff measurement
3. Good street signage
4. Restaurants working late with the kitchen operating even after midnight
5. Always nice lobbies in the houses
6. Swimming pools and gyms in the houses
7. The "lawn culture" - on a sunny day, every piece of grass is a picnic spot
8. Cultural variety - many cultural centers, stages, music performances

People:
9. Very outgoing and responsive - it is completely normal to strike a conversation with a stranger (say, at a cultural event)
10. Volunteering to help even without being asked - for example, if they see you looking for your way in the city
11. Genuinely interested in culture - my friends who are musicians confirm that Argentinean spectators are the most thankful audience

Tango (deserves a separate point):
12. It is not only a cultural movement, I think it is an exports item for the economy. And it is not only the tourists attracted to festivals who spend money here but also the people who came to Argentina to dance tango and then stayed. They found a job and then they keep working in the country and paying taxes (hopefully). I personally know two such foreigners who immigrated to Argentina because of tango (not really foreigner anymore)
