Receiving mail from Europe 2026 (books)

Looks like the last topic on this was a few years ago, so let's do a 2026 version.

I ordered a few books off eBay from Italy, not too expensive, and I fully realized they may never come here, but has anybody been successful in getting mail or books from another country?

Should I go to the Post Office and ask about it? I tried to register online, but I cannot since I do not have a dni.

Okay, so this is just a small sample of one but, after years of not trusting Correo Argentino we've been experimenting with mail. Something sent tracked all the way at eye watering cost arrived about it month after it was sent: something sent basic with no extras has yet to turn up, several months later. HTH

So you're implying that if it has a tracking number Aduana, Correo or the last mile delivery company will hesitate stealing it?

It may not be anything as sophisticated as stealing: it may just be ICBA on the part of the delivery agent. Our bit of Comuna 11 seems to be a black hole for postal deliveries though I accept others elsewhere have fewer problems. We tend to take birthday cards etc across the Atlantic ourselves, well in advance of due dates rather than trust the post.

I got my voting card for the Swedish elections and sent it back on time. But, after book depository got bought up and shut down I haven’t ordered any books to Argentina. So, don’t know if it’s still free. At the time it took about a month for it to arrive.
