Greetings. I would like to make a small vacation away from the city. Say 3-5 days. I am alone, have no friends, know no-one, and thus have no-one to ask this question to. Therefore. Any person reading know a good smaller town to head toward? Hills or mountains preferably nearby enough to see and look at. Better if nearby enough to walk on or to. Lake or river preferable to swim in. I would prefer the swimming over the walking. Though if both could be had, better.

I am alone, one person. I do not party, do not need bars, clubs, good restaurants, whores, or interesting like-minded people to connect with. I disdain luxury accommodations, but neither will I stoop to sharing a bunk bed with a shit-stinking hippie I never met before. Or any hippie, really.

I'd just like to swim in some open water. This goddam town, there's nowhere to swim here and I'm going to seed because of it. I'd rather go west into the hills than east to the coast. I figure any coastal place is going to be packed with all of the people I have to thank for the quiet of the past few weeks here in the city.

I've no intention to fly anywhere. But please feel free to send me on a 30 hour bus journey if you know a quiet place with swimming and hills. Thank you so much.

You could take a bus and/or rent a car and go to the Lakes district in Cordoba. I can't give you specifics on where exactly to go or to stay the night, but would imagine that you can find a ton of info searcing online.

Here are a few places to start:

Renting a car once in Cordoba might be a good idea so you will have the flexibility to get out and explore the region. There are also probably lots of recommendations on lonely planet thorntree, and even on this forum. Good luck and I hope you have a great escape from the city.
