Residency & ARCA

Be careful of gestors.
In my hurry and naivete, I started with a gestor in 2005, to get my DNI and eventual permanent residency, which takes three years. The first two years were relatively cheap and fast. I have no doubt that money changed hands for me to jump the queue, pero bueno.
At the final hurdle on year three, the gestor quadrupled the fee as she thought she had me by the short and curlies ($4500).
I did some research and completed the tramite myself in Vicente Lopez (DNI address) at a cost of $45.
I'm not saying all gestors are the same, but if you look or act desperate, you'll get stitched up.

do you really have to revive an old thread from 2005 to hawk your citizenship biz? .... don't we have enough of that with the other threads already?

You made a good point two guys, but without BC2's input, perhaps there would still be folks out there who find this thread in a search and end up paying a gestor or agency (over a period of three to five years) a lot more than they would have to pay BC2 to obtain citizenship in one (after being in Argentina a year prior to starting the application).

And perhaps BC2 just likes fishing in deep waters.:p

If others can use this website to advertise and otherwise generate business of all sorts, why can't an immigration specialist. It's a service many would be interestrd in.

I see no problem with BC's inputs.

ACRA is one big scam and so are most "gestors" operating near migraciones in BA.

Thank god for BC.

Wow. I'm mostly a lurker, but I have to defend ARCA when someone trashes them. I have permanent residency, and the first time I applied temporary residency, I did all of the tramites myself and had no assistance.

However, as a busy professional, I hired ARCA to renew my visa for the 3 years until I received permanent residency. Lorena, the lawyer at ARCA, did a great job, saved me a lot of time and aggravation, and I considered her fees to be reasonable.

@toulouse don't bother feeding the troll. obviously someone created a new account to.... :D. ah, we've seen that trick here time and time again.

FWIW, we too used ARCA to get our tem and perm residency and got them very fast and without hassle. Well worth the $ for those who don't have the time to do it on their own and can afford it. And they have a track record that spans many years, unlike others.

The best thing about this forum is you can search for all of these options... see who's delivered and who's not, and gage who's professional and who's not. ;) My best advice for someone looking to live here long term legally, and not wanting to do the process on their own; is to (a) research all options, (b) look at their track record, (c) get references, and (d) get a 100% money back guarantee.
