After we paid our seguro de caución, the realtor let us know that there would be a fundamental change to our contract because the owner is selling the apartment. Apparently they knew it was on the market when we paid our seña, but didn't tell us. We haven't signed the contract yet and don't want to move into a place where we might have to move out again in 4 months. Has anyone had luck canceling or transferring a seguro de caución, or does anyone know a good housing lawyer?

That's a really dirty move on behalf of the inmobilaria.

The first thing I would do is contact the Seguro company and explain what happened. Find out if you have refund or transfer option. If not, you may have grounds to pursue damages against the Inmobilaria.

Rental estate agents here are scum of the earth aren’t they?!?. We are demanding one right now too.
