Sending physical U.S. dollars to Argentina

I should have been more specific as I don't expect US currency to be mailed to Argentina but through a transfer agent in USA to a location in Argentina and receive actual dollars rather than pesos and without a deposit account in Argentina being necessary.
Thanks to all who responded.

if that's the case, Macaundo provided a great answer:

You can send $2999 three times a month using riamoneytransfer. The cost is $15 per transaction, which is only a half of one per cent. You have to send it from your bank account to get this low fee and have to specify to be picked up in dollars. Once the money arrives, the recipient has to call Argenper on corrientes to tell them they want dollars. The next day they can pick up the dollars.
Since retired banker doesn't appear to be trying to avoid a paper trail and he's not trying to send money to himself in Argenitna, RIA would be an excellent choice as long as they have cash pick up locatins that can dispense dollars.

Because the place you’re sending the money from also matters, does it not?
And the US is a rather large place to assume someone would carry the money without specifying where from.

What difference could the exact location in the USA possible make in regards to the answer to RB's question.

PS The OP has clarified; it turns out my modest reading abilities were adequate to this occasion.

I don't think you've ever been wrong, have you, Ben?

Well, with regard to having someone physically bring money, being in NY versus LA would matter a bit, no? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Plenty!
Not this time, though.
Curious: what’s your ax to grind here?

Suggest you might investigate TransferWise - I've had good experiences sending dollars to dollars (saved in receiving bank account as dollars for as long as you wish). The dollars must be withdrawn as pesos however. Ooops, just reread your post and see a receiving bank account is not wanted. I'm no help. I still like TransferWise though.

Hey,

As well as what has already been suggested , you can look into what are known as 'financieras' here. They will usually offer a service whereby you wire them money, they then can give you or your expat friend physical dollars in Arg.

Many of them are based on/near the main Florida street / financial area .

I can't recommend any specifically, but if you research you can find a reputable one. They charge a % of the transfer.

Good Luck!

As Ben says, if it's physical cash; you would probably have to travel with it, send with someone trustworthy, or find a specialist courier.

To be clear, I only wrote that in the context of a silly argument with Steve. My actual advice was:

The easiest way would be to touch base with any number of people who will do this for a small fee. You deposit the money (or transfer with PayPal/Zelle/etc) there, and pick it up here.
Cost should not exceed 2%, and is often less.

Which was essentially what you wrote (only you were clearer than I was):

I asked around and have someone who can do it for 1.5% at the moment, PM for details.
