The US. Not much help I know. But I try to limit my shopping here as much as possible for the reasons you mention.

When I do buy here, I try to go to small, non-chain boutiques. Or higher end (Lacroix, etc) stores. You'll pay a fortune but at least the quality will be good.

Well, elsewhere in LatAm, the Koreanos has many garment being weaved there or imported, don;t they make garments there and sell to the local fashion retailers? me thinking, they must be better than the Knock-offs that Rich One mention here ?

Once is quite and adventure and if you are not patient enough, well let's say it will drive you nuts but they do sell everything you afterwards go and buy at the lovely shops in the malls for sometimes even the double and more in price.

(I used to work in the fashion industry, trust me it all comes from the same place)

I also wanting to buy summer clothings when arriving to Bs As. I really don't want to bring too many summer garments from the US, the less weight I travel with, the better. How is the prices compared to the states. IE, slacks, short sleeve shirts, summer jackets, shorts, walking shoes etc.And where to buy them whilst in Bs As ? Macy's and or Bloomingdales available? Or is it Ripleys and Fallabellas deptmnt stores there?

Buy your clothes in the US. You'll be happy you did.

I have found that there is little middle ground - either it's cheaply made at mediocre prices, or decent quality but expensive. You can easily get better quality + cheaper prices in the US. Also, finding your size may be a challenge if you are heavier or taller than average. Clothes tend to run small. Nothing kills a girl's self esteem faster than going from a small to not being able to button a L jacket.

The mall at Abasto is good for cheaper prices, better quality and pricier stuff is at Alto Palermo, Galeria Pacifica And Recoleta Mall. Now is a good time because the sales are beginning. And don't forget some of the stand alone chain stores that have good stuff, like Ben Simon for jeans and casual clothes, Isadora for purses and accessories. And I second the Palermo boutiques for more unique kinds of things. Also in Belgrano along Cabildo near Juramento there are a lot of small clothing stores with relatively cheap prices, as well as along Santa Fe. Shop until you drop but you won't find the same quality value ratio here as you would at a Nordstroms rack or TJ Maxx in the US. There is a Walmart here but I don't know how they are for clothes. Many Argies don't go to Miami to buy electronics, but to bring back clothes! The good news; there are many people who alter clothes here and do a great job. I will now buy something really great that's not my size knowing I can take it to my seamstress here who will get it to custom fit me, cheap!

I just came back from Florida St. As I suspected lots of 30% 40% off signs. Also Lavalle. You might as well try. There are a couple of stores that on top of that are going out of business and are having an everything must go sale. They don't look cheap (quality wise) at all but the prices looked good. From there it's very easy for you to go to Abasto since Cordoba will take you most of the way.

Ferias Americanas in the city. If you don't minding searching, you might find an Italian import that someone put up for consignment or sold. These are my shopping destinations. How else would I be wearing Versace, Armani, Prada, etc. I can't afford originals on social security income.
