I'm looking to rent a pre-furnished apartment for between 3 months and a year. I know that rentals here usually go for 24 months, but I'm looking for more flexibility and I know I'll have to pay extra for it.

Anyone know a good place to find such a thing? I don't want to go to Craigslist and get robbed for a holiday rental, and most of the inmobiliarios I've asked have said they don't do this kind of thing.

I'm looking for a place in Caballito or Colegiales, if that helps.

Any ideas?

I have a one bedroom flat that will be available in February is in Villa Crespo if you are interested let me know and I give you details of the flat and the neighborhood

I had a lot of luck renting an apartment through byt argentina. They were very professional, and many of their apartments are significantly cheaper than other temporary rental agencies.

It's obviously safer to go through an agency, but if you're willing to take the risk, you can find much cheaper apartments on craigslist or soloduenos. I just moved to a new apartment that I found on craigslist, and I was able to negotiate the price down by $125/month (although it's still an inflated tourist price). There are many options on both of those websites, and I would definitely recommend at least checking them out.

Furnished apartments are basically by definition tourist apartment and are rented for max 6 months at a time, not 24. Twenty four month rentals are regular rentals unfurnished.

Craigslist, if you persevere, will bear fruit. You will have to wade through a mess of Inmobilaria holiday rentals and greedily optimistic Dueños but some very good properties can be found there.

Alternatively, to also avoid paying commission, you can try www.soloduenos.com.ar.

There are the specialist short term rental agencies. People seem to be happy using them. I myself have not, but their commission is usually much more humble:
Zenprop
BYT

You should really try walking the barrio where you would like to live, ask the porteros if there is a Dueño renting in their building (they know all the going-ons).

Argentine Dueños are very cautious renting short term without garantia. Even if you appear to be a wealthy foreigner. There is a lot of chatting up necessary to win them over. You may have to cede paying a few months rent up front.

Zonaprop.com.ar is good but largely inmobilarias list here (charging 2 months rent as commission).

Badudi has some good properties, although lacks photos on many listings.

Enbuenosaires.com.ar do not delete their old listings so check the date.

Argenprop.com, Clarin and OLX are not that good IMO.

To find a good place at a good price, luck aside, you could be searching for months.

So, good luck.

My girlfriend has a place to rent for between three months and a year, it does not need a guarantor and it is not through an agent. It is in the center on Avenida de Mayo nr Avenida 9 de Julio.

If you want to give her a ring and see the place her name and number are Guada 1551477218

Good luck
