I've just finished reading Never let me Go, by Kazuo Ishiguro, who also wrote Remains of the day.
I must admit that i felt very let down by the book. That's just my opinion of course.

I sort of hate to admit it, but I still love people like Hunter S. Thompson and feel that his acidic take on American presidents would be very appropriate today.
The "Godfather of Gonzo Journalism" produced too much dross and one has to sift carefully to find the nuggets. My favorite American writer is James Ellroy who -- in "American Tabloid" and "The Cold Six Thousand" -- manages to convey the spirit of contemporary USA. Very politically incorrect, though.
