Strike: how long untl gas runs out?

It will last about at least 10

10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.... gone. No more gas around my neighborhood.
 
Nice to know our welfare is at the whim of some mafia union boss.

The situation is always made worse by people who panic and have to fill up a car they only drive on the weekends. :rolleyes: And of course this panic will continue until everybody has a full tank of gas again... until the next shortage/strike or whatever.

I too was confused about gas vs nafta. I didn't even know cars could run on natural gas until I came here. :p
 
The situation may have been defused for now. Moyano's just lifted the strike after getting a 25% pay increase from industry...Moyano's still going ahead with a demo at the Plaza de Mayo though, he wants to rub it in & claim against the government's punitive wage taxes.

that is a totally unaccurate remark as the army, gendarmeria and other armed forces do have trucks both for supplies and personnel that are driven on daily basis by their own drivers, they have a professional drivers permit to do so. back in the days when the military service was compulsory lots of recruits after learning to drive a truck in the armed forces used to take jobs as private truck drivers after finishing the service. same as some people learnrt welding or mechanics

Seems the strike is going ahead after all, next weds.
I don't think Moyano could be seen to be softening after his words last night.

You are probably right. I was just saying what I'd heard on the news. According to them "people who have never driven these trucks are driving them and its dangerous".

But I have to ask, do you have proof to back up your claim that these exact people used by the government to drive trucks actually have truckers' driver's licenses or are you, just like me, saying things that you've heard or believe to be true?

PS: I am aware the military has truck drivers...usually they are used for military purposes, not civilian. Unless CFK has a military force ready to take over civilian jobs at a moment's notice...
 
Cristina doesn't have a military anything. :p

You need a special license to drive a truck, so I'm guessing they were licensed drivers... perhaps not licensed to carry hazardous materials, but who knows. I bet the news doesn't even know. They like to sensationalize everything... looking for problems where there is none while being completely oblivious to other issues. :rolleyes: Everything is done haphazard here.
 
Oh yes she does.
The Gendarmeria are paramilitaries in all but name and their numbers have been boosted recently by this 'democratic' government in the name of security and transport safety. To imagine that they may be used for other political purposes would be unimaginable, of course.
