My wife is coming to Buenos Aires and would like to bring through airport immigration a GPS navigator (for our vehicle) and a tablet (computer).

Would there be any question of paying import duty on these items (they´d be unwrapped and for personal use)? Or might it be thought that they are for resale and subject to duty?

Any advice, please?

If they stop her and ask, she can say they're for personal use, sometimes they ask the person to fill in a form saying that they will take the items back with them when they leave. However, this depends on the time of day when she arrives, also depends on whether the customs officer has the little cup with a metallic straw in his hand or if he/she is actually paying attention. Not knowing Spanish and being a foreigner also helps.

I wouldn't worry too much about it though. As long as she doesn't act nervous and bring attention to herself when walking through customs, she should be fine.

Try to make them looked used ie enter some personal data, put a little dust on the cover. Recent experience: they couldn't care less.
