I paid 75US for a deep tooth cleaning two months ago. I'm sure the price in the US where I used to live is twice that, half the time, and done more with machines than by hand.

I think it depends on the condition of your gums and other bits and pieces . My dentists charges 50 dollars . . She has two places where she works from in Belgrano and Flores. She also speaks English I think ... well she undestands my Scottish accent.

Talking in dollars is confusing to me. Are you doing official conversion rate, blue rate, tourist rate? Can we just talk in pesos?

And I'm guessing Philip still falls under neo? Otherwise no idea. I'm paying a shade under 2000 a month for OSDE 210 and that's the corporate rate but I'm over 36.

If we talk dollars , its the blue rate that most people refer to . The official rate does not exist .

I believe it depends on how it is carried out. Is it just mechanical? Or with ultrasounds? Does it include a whitening treatment?

I usually get utrlasound, no mechanical! Whitening is a whole different thing

I pay 200 pesos for great cleaning. Our OMINT doesn't cover dental. OMINT policy just went up to 1700 pesos/mo. for the family (wife, kid, me). Covers us in the U.S. and Italy too while we are traveling - out of country up to 4 months no problem. It is about half price of same coverage we had with OSDE. Had to use OMINT recently in the U.S. Just like in good ol' BsAs we called, they took address, and within an hour an ear, eye, nose specialist was at our place in Miami - turned out I had ear infection. At that doctor reached into his brown bag and took out the ear prescription, gave it to me free of charge, and went on his merry way. Best health care money can buy in the US!

I live in Zona Oeste, where it's clearly much cheaper for dental work. I had a root canal and a tooth that was cut in half repaired, all for 500 pesos. I also had another chipped tooth repaired, and a protesis made for another 500 pesos. Get out of the expat enclaves and you will find very good dental at a fraction of the price.

In Liniers (a couple of years ago admittedly), I had two porcelain fillings done for 150 pesos total - and compared to the work I had done in the UK (ugly metal) they are great. The dentist here was offended (on my behalf) that the UK dentist had put the metal fillings in my mouth at all, and so he even replaced them for me, included in the price. I had paid a lot for those UK ones, but they also damaged my teeth. I am very happy with my budget dental work done here!

So can you share the name of this dentist? We are looking for a good but reasonably priced one. The prices listed here so far are so expensive, much more than in Spain!
