'Mummy what's the dollar today' asked my son this evening who is 10
'10.45'
'And when do we go on holiday to America? He continued
'8 weeks' I answered
'Well I will have saved over 1000 pesos to spend but in 8 weeks it will only be worth $10usd. I will be able to buy a bag of potatoes. Humphhhhh!'

Out of the mouths of babes and no response possible from mummy :(

I grew up on a situation like that (except the trips to America). The kid will be fine.

Wonderful.
But what kind of people sell dollars to their own kids at the blue rate?

A 10 year old has 1000 pesos?

my husbands daughters get 100pesos from the tooth fairy every time they lose a tooth! i couldn't believe it! i used to get 2 to 5 dollars!

He's saved up for a year. He's much better at that than me!

We're coming up to a year living in BA now. It keeps me on my toes trying to teach the value of money to him here.

What kind of parent lets their kid save in pesos? The peso went from $5 to $10 over the last 12 months. Your kid could have saved twice as much! You need to teach him... every week cash out those pesos in a nearby cueva.
