I will let Joe answer that one. However I wouldn't be posting if very significant progress hadn't been made. I was going to post only after Joe posted that we was entirely satisfied but reading the prank with my name on it well... you know... it's not cool. This is to say that during the time my name was paraded around I didn't post did I? You really don't get it and I don't fully blame you.

I think what people don't get is why all of your answers are so obtuse. There are three possible answers for this question. Yes / No / Partly.

... you know... it's not cool.

What's your definition of what's cool & not cool?

Receiving funds in Uruguay for someone who keeps your stuff & who needs the money to live, and not give it right away (because you paid at least 4/5th of it by now according to the "site") is cool, not cool?

What did you use the 1000 USD for? Was it worth it? I guess we are (among the poker players, I'm one) 95% to think you used those to gamble and suffered a bad beat.

OK, let's think about it the other way: you're a foreigner here like 99% of us. For 1000 USD, you put someone in a difficult situation, you ruin your reputation (quite deserved, ok or not ok?) and you come here to post that it's not cool that people talk about you, your name, etc.

Something does not compute IG, problem is not us, problem is something inside you & you don't seem to realize that.

That being said, I'm not a saint myself, nor a judge, a snitch or a cop, but your attitude is weird (and I'm very open minded)

Joe has been mostly paid back. It's up to him to post it though. I gave very detailed explanations in the past. It didn't seem to do much. I'm not here to convince anyone of anything but as long as most of the wrongs have been made right, I think at this point I'm entitled to say I don't want my name to be used like that. I think it's simple enough.

Joe is coming back in 6+ months from what I understand, so fear not forumites. IG why don't you change to a new handle since your reputation has been so badly tarnished?

Well, I don't intend to hide. I didn't before (I came here and told everyone that Joe was right and I actually admitted to most of Joe's claims). No harm was ever intended (although I realize it was done, and I apologized to Joe repeatedly for it. There was no harm intended and no premeditation and if people can't understand that sometimes things get out of hand (I'm not expecting a public verdict good or bad), then well, I guess everyone else is perfect. I won't change my handle. People can see the handle change history and, on top of that, it would be pointless... the only reason to be here was to make connections and have them lead to real life interactions (on top of the learning about BA and sharing knowledge). If I were to change my handle... I wouldn't be able to take that "new person" to any real life events, rendering the whole idea pointless. I'm not here to play games, it's either real or it's not. If I can't be around here anymore and people simply won't want me, then I'll stay out altogether. No need to create a fake persona. I do expect the use of my name in a disrespectful manner to stop and that's a reasonable request.

As far as Joe goes, you're right. He will be back by the winter. He simply didn't want to become a permatourist and well, he decided he wanted a BA break as well.

Frenchie,

I really appreciated your PM a couple of months back and I know you're a decent guy. I know that what Joe was forced to go through was certainly not cool. As I said, I apologized to him and it's mostly been made right. I know that it's probably too little too late and whatever is done will really never fully erase what happened. It's OK and I get it. That said.... there is no way that my "uncool" behavior makes other "uncool" behavior right. I still have a right to privacy and I still have the right to have an opinion and to defend myself.

As far as gambling, poker or not or whatever. All those things are speculations. Do I play poker? Yes Do I enjoy poker? Yes.. Was Joe separated from his 1000 dollars momentarily due to poker? No. No, and definetely not. I didn't ask Joe to send me money. I didn't need or want Joe to send me money. He asked me to bring it to BA for him and I accepted. After that a few things got out of hand. That's all. I never intended to steal from him nor did I. As soon as I got back to BA, reparations were made. I always showed my face and even came here to publicly accept my responsibility.... I think that, for someone who unwillingly caused Joe a problem, I tried to do everything else the right way. I wasn't hiding, I wasn't denying his claims. I never once failed to take a call from him. As soon as he wanted to meet in person when I was back, I did. For someone who's so "awful" I did try to do everything else the right way. If you or others can't see it then, well, I'm sorry about that, Someone who didn't want to do things the right way wouldn't have been so willing to admit things and to be here to show his face. I stopped posting because people stopped being reasonable and it simply got out of hand. Completely irrational and disproportionate. I think that the group's mob mentality is a shame and I really feel bad but I also don't care anymore because the only one who was really affected no longer has the claim and treating someone who clearly screwed up but is NOT (and this is a huge thing) is NOT a con artist and didn't premeditate this the way I was treated is just not right either.

sleslie23... I took the time to write a detailed response to specific questions. I think that your remark is not only ignoring that but highly irrational. Like, I really don't understand what's so hard about looking at all angles in an objective manner here. But see, I won't bother...

ejcot, I don't understand if you were being metaphorical or not. If you were then, I'm sorry you feel that way. If you're not, then I won't bother answering that question.

Being a witness to these meetings, I think I can comment pretty accurately about what IG told Joe about these details.

The bolded text below is not true. You said you used Joe's money on living expenses and used your money to gamble. Do you really not realize that you are rationalizing?
Was Joe separated from his 1000 dollars momentarily due to poker? No. No, and definetely not.

The bolded text below is not true. When you spend someone else's money without their knowledge AND permission, you are stealing. Just because you have paid 85% of it back makes no difference on the act itself.
I never intended to steal from him nor did I. As soon as I got back to BA, reparations were made. I always showed my face and even came here to publicly accept my responsibility....

The bolded text below is untrue. You have a will. You willed yourself to go to Punta. You willed yourself to accept Joe's request. You willed yourself to accept the cash from Zoom. You willed yourself to spend it. Whether there were circumstances that were out of your control that influenced your will is still your will. Accept responsibility, man.
I think that, for someone who unwillingly caused Joe a problem, I tried to do everything else the right way.

The bolded text below is not true. Joe is still affected by this until you have paid him back in full. If it seems like such a small amount that you can just shrug it off now as being a non-issue, then why is it so hard for you to pay him back in full? Quit trying to make it easier for yourself and man up. This is what happens when you become a grown up and have real consequences for selfish actions. Pay your dues and be done with it, dude.
I think that the group's mob mentality is a shame and I really feel bad but I also don't care anymore because the only one who was really affected no longer has the claim...

Sorry IG. Let's just call a spade a spade. There is a lot that you wrote in this paragraph that is 100% not true. We could start with the word "momentarily" and begin making a list from there.

Get real, man. You are getting skewered, and rightly so.
