There Is Always A First Time And Sad To Say It Was Mine!

Oh no, Esteban... very sorry to hear this. What a scary situation.

If one thing can be taken away here.... always travel with your doors locked and windows up especially in sketchy neighborhoods and have an escape route. Sometimes they'll break the windows, but it might buy you some time.

That's horrible, Esteban. Glad you are okay, and okay enough to tell us about it. My heart is with you. I hope you can sleep tonight in spite of this horrible situation. Contact me if you need anything.
Esteban, same from me: so sorry to hear this, it must have been awful! Let us know if there is anything we can do. Hugs.

I'm sorry to hear what happened to you Esteban, anything you need, contact me

This is so sad and disturbing! Compared to a worse case scenario some can say you're "very lucky", but I don't consider having a knife to my throat a very lucky day at all! Thanks for sharing and re-warning everybody about the very real dangers of this city. I hope it helps you heal.

Indeed, but if this people, dont change how they vote, and start demanding their rights, nothing will change
Im sick and tired of this country,as soon I find a job,and save some money, and finish my masters,im out of here, hopefully,by next year

Ok, you leave, where to?

The only difference in other countries is what the thieves wear, or what they are called. The only thing that changes is the geography.

An Estaban chicks dig scars, and you now have a great anecdote. it sucks but learn from it! Things will get better!

Can't even imagine how terrifying that was, Esteban. So glad you got through it, and so sorry that it happened.

I am sorry to hear what happened to you Esteban, but glad that you are safe and sound. I am 40 and was only robbed twice in my life, about 20 years ago....yes, in La Boca! The guys have knives. It is a sketchy area, there are villas, but also the neighbours are used to these things happening all the time. No one really cares. Lots of conventillos, and marginals. La Boca is sold as very touristy area, and really it is not safe at all, much less at night. No matter what they are doing, a great show, lots of police, etc. It is never ever safe. Guys with knives do not usually kill their victims, so all in all you were lucky.

Just curious. If you had a pistol would you have used it?

I am sorry to hear what happened to you. I had the same experience In Harlem NYC ( where I went to school ) 40+ years ago.

I am very sorry to hear this.

However, I was there too last night- NOT in the VIP stands, however, just in the crowd.
There were tens of thousands of people there. I would not be surprised if there were 100,000- it was unbelievably packed.
And only a very very few people had the horrible things that happened to you happen.

The vast majority of people were peaceful, kind, and safe.

Sure, crime happens, more in La Boca than in most of BsAs.

But down where I was, there were many many old people, babies, and children, and the crowd was very protective- when some young chicos tried to crowd thru, everyone would tell them what for.
And walking out, we walked along Almirante Brown all the way to Parque Lezama- tens of thousands of families, jubiladas, and normal citizens, all having fun, talking, and complaining about Christina together.

You experience was terrible, but an aberration. Most Portnenos last night were courteous, civilized, and friendly to each other.
