There Is Always A First Time And Sad To Say It Was Mine!

Indeed. Fortunately incidents like these are still rare in Buenos Aires.

Thanks to all for your moral support! I don't want to make any further comments since I am still in a state of disbelief! All I can say is that I feel I need to make some decisions which I fortunately can take and act upon but many have no plan B, I know!

Very sorry to hear that you had to go through that. It's the kind of thing that never leaves you, and it changes you. Really, hearing your story changes all of us. It's terrible. Hang in there (as best you can).

si lo se pero sabes... no hay que conformarse con me afarnaron pero no me mataron!
something has to change!

I'm sorry that happened to you. It was an unfortunate incident. When I had received a virtual kidnapping phone call, the casual attitude of my friends and family made me realize that it's really sad when society becomes lazy and passive about the increasing amount of violence and insecurity issues and now considers it an every day part of life. Please, post your story in the newcomers forum for all those living in Recoleta and Palermo Soho who've lived here six months and claim that BA is safe since nothing has ever happened to them before.

The sad truth is that we considered going down to watch this last night. We decided not to based on the likelihood of an unpleasant journey down (didn't fancy going in the car, subte and buses likely to be a busy or worse, dodgy) and the fact that in this area this was likely to be a field day for thieves and muggers. Very sorry you had to experience this, it's a shame that insufficient allocation of police resources allowed these cretins to operate unmolested. The filthy riachuelo and the dodgy neighbourhood won out over our love of fireworks.

I never bring friends who come to La Boca, can't stand it. Whatever charm there was has long since gone. The single most over rated tourist location in B.A.

Sorry for your troubles.

Sorry to say but this is happening more and more in Buenos Aires. At the moment I am on vacation in the US and I had forgotten what it was like to walk down the street and talk on my cell phone at the same time. My friends are amused at my "defensive" posture now (I never put my phone on the table, always put my foot through my backpack strap while sitting, am compulsive about locking doors, am always looking around me to scan for threats).

When I came back from my first Iraq tour I was walking my date to the movies. A passing Harley Davidson backfired and I dove headfirst into the bushes with her under me. She was definitely not amused. It's not quite like that but I now have the same feeling of living by different rules than everyone else here.

Glad things didn't go from bad to worse, Esteban! All the best!

Ok, you leave, where to?

The only difference in other countries is what the thieves wear, or what they are called. The only thing that changes is the geography.

An Estaban chicks dig scars, and you now have a great anecdote. it sucks but learn from it! Things will get better!
I dint meant because esteban experience,i had the same many years ago,i meant in general, because of here.
