up till this morning, i used 'Translator" - which is now called 'iTranslate' (?) (i thought they were different; to be honest, i can't recall ...and in frustration with what i found earlier today ...i deleted whatever app i had.)
what i am fairly certain is that whatever app i did have had was an option for translation into Argentine Spanish *but suddenly, without warning (along with a completely new interface... subscription fees, etc.) that version of Spanish has disappeared. the only one choice remaining is: "spanish" (español, puerto rico, mexican, chile NO SÉ !!!!) (ok, i'll stop ranting - grrrrrrr!)

of consequenec (and in desperation) i ask: in argentina, (more speciically, CABA) what is th IOS translation app of choice (please)?

with much appreciation in advance
m.

Google has an App simply called Google Translate, try it. Its has voice or text ( I like text its more accurate)
not Argentine Spanish. Try it. If you find better pass it on please

Hope this helps

You can chat with any of the new AI chat bots, and ask them to “translate using the dialect of Spanish used in Argentina”. Google Gemini, Microsoft copilot. I like Pi app Personal Assisant though they had a shakeup as leadership recently defected to Microsoft. You can have an audio discussion to translate and learn Spanish with Argentina specifics. https://pi.ai/onboarding

I just tried the Pi app and found the pronunciation underwhelming. Eg. it pronounced "llama" with an L sound instead of a "sh" sound, and pronounced "me" in the English way rather than as the correct "may".

I would not recommend using this app to learn pronunciation, but it may be helpful for grammar etc.

ChatGPT typically works better than Google Translate in my experience

Tell it your opinion and try to correct it. Have that conversation. It is an Ai trying to learn.

WordRef (wordreference.com) for a deep dive. Covers regional origin and usage of words (in many languages), and has a lot of user support for same.

Given ChatGPT's propensity to hallucinations, wouldn't someone need to be pretty fluent in the other language in order not to risk communicating something unintended?
You can translate the Spanish back to English with Google translate to double check. I find Chatgpt to be much better with word selection, much more natural sounding and doesn't make obvious errors like Google translate does. Like translating "Su" to English it can be his, her, their or your depending on the context. Google almost never gets it right, Chatgpt is able to take in the full context of your text, whereas Google is more word for word translations and makes obvious mistakes.
