Typical Street Scene - Photo I Took Today

Oh that's not typical at all, that phone has obviously been very picked over.

My 7-year old took one of this apparently when I wasn't looking (I found it in his drawer...) I don't know if I should laugh or cry....

The visual aggression is too much ---- but every time I comment this to my Argentine friends they think I am being a prude.

I don't care if my kids see naked bodies at all, but not this way .... this is so disgusting to me.

What do you think?

Not sure if a 7 y/o know what it's about ? Could be for shops selling bathing suits ?

I think these are probably less harmful than the giant porno magazines that are prominently displayed in all the news stands in all their high resolution glossy glory. Thankfully the little cartelitos are a little less detailed.

I'm not a parent and I don't envy your position at all, but I would think that prostitution may be easier to explain in less explicit terms than pornography.

Either way, coming from the USA, its shocking to see.

Oh and my argentine friends call me a prude every time I've commented on it as well.

Walk the Las Vegas Strip lately? Took some Argentine friends for a stroll there and even I was embarrassed. That takes some doing.:) BA stuff is innocent in comparison.

Oh yeah, that is my #1 concern. It wasn't like that before the social meltdown of Argentina... Those mags had a black plastic cover... now they are at child's reach...

What people don't understand is that it is not about being a prude or not, it is about the impact it has on a child's mind....

I have looked online for info on how to promote a ban on this type of display but nothing so far... I believe there was an initiative of some sort in Mendoza.

FJ, is this an irony?

He definitely knows that those ladies are not promoting swimsuits (what swimsuit?). He is curious about this and he probably gets horny on some level.... the problem is that these type of images create confusion and such confusion turns into aggressiveness (it is an emotion that kids are too young to handle).

Thats hardly a valid comparison as I dont know many parents who would think the Vegas strip was a good kids holiday place. Yes I can concur there's obvious sex for sale in both but in Bsas theres a naked ass on display on tv before 9pm, on the back of buses, on every kiosko beside a school. And I know I'm no prude...I also know that the "baby ass" photos that seem to be the big turn on here relate to some seriously closeted sexual hangups in the guys. Its lose lose for all except the print houses flogging this fantasy stuff to sad punters.

When my own 7 yr old asked me why the lady on tv had no pants on (Sony Entertainment 7pm one Sunday night!!!) I told him she was a very naughty girl and her mummy would be very cross to see her being so bold. Maybe I'll give him hang ups but that's something I'd rather deal with than the sexual aggression to which nativeexpat refers.
