Yesterday's scene at the Obelisc with an Uber driver and his female passenger having to be protected by the police while being harassed by CABA taxi drivers before having his vehicle impounded got me to thinking again. What, indeed,is the rush?
Why can this not wait for a more propicious moment in Argentina's recent effort to become a more free market economy? It isn't possible to define an exact moment. However,I look at it more in terms of the local market 's reaction than I do from Uber's desire further expand. With all the hassle over the doble indemnity and proposed employment laws does most of the local population really Need Uber Now ? I do not think so.
Ugly Americanism was defined in 1958 as," insensitivity to local language, culture, customs and a refusal to integrate". Sound familiar?
I am a U.S. native who would not like to see those days return.
