Updated COVID restrictions on circulation

In this context, the reported "restrictions" CABA intends to introduce can only be seen as an attempt to sabotage the more restrictive measures expected to be announced by the president on Friday. Weekend lockdowns in CABA (because we all know the virus only comes out Monday to Friday), schools to remain open, and in any case zero control of sanitary measures in cafes, restaurants, or anywhere else, all in the name of "freedom"..
I guess you weren’t paying attention when the President ruled out a return to phase 1 or total confinement earlier in the week... while only today they bring up the idea of a phase 1 confinement for 9 days starting from tomorrow. But of course, it’s all the fault of the opposition, not the government that rules by a majority. And of course “closed” provinces like Formosa which are exploding must somehow also be the fault of CABA and it’s schools and “freedom”. Perhaps also if your place doesn’t have a view you can’t see the apartments and terraces full with people having parties, asados y dinners in their homes every night to understand how Argentines from all sides of the divide are actually behaving. I guess if you watch too much C5N propaganda you’re just as guilt of politicizing the situation as “Argentinas center right opposition”.

The national government announced today they are planning 9 days of total confinement from tomorrow night until 30MAY (like in phase 1 and 2- this excludes “essential” activities)

Official announcement is expected in coming hours once they have finished their meeting.

You were obviously not paying attention when the Covid cases doubled in 5 days. What seemed like a good idea last week suddenly seems inadequate when the cases double, and any sensible government would change strategy, based on the medical advice they're getting. In any case, the CABA government will just ignore the federal law, like they've been doing until now.

Just like last year, cases increase first in CABA and Buenos Aires province, then they spread out like ripples from the epicentre to the other provinces. You obviously missed that too, here's a reminder for you from this week's BA Times interview with Daniel Gollán: "When we said last year that once the cases moved out of AMBA, they would explode in the rest of the country, they gave us an earful and then later said we were geniuses. Neither one thing nor the other, just basic first-year epidemiology. Around 13.5 million people move around here interacting with almost all the country. It was impossible for it not to happen".

I see the stupid behaviour of Argentinians in CABA all the time, crowding together in bars, restaurants, cafes, and even on the street, maskless, yacking at the tops of their voices without a care in the world. That's the problem, you're obviously not capable of seeing it. And I don't believe I've ever watched C5N, as ever, your "arguments" are irrelevant or about setting up straw men.

Our points of disagreement are schools and that CABA is somehow “worse” than other parts of Argentina / Argentines as it’s all an evil opposition plot. While I understand your personal fear of schoolchildren and dislike of “right wing” politics - it would be good if your “arguments” ever went further than these points which are well, irrelevant to the reality we are seeing all over the country.

Btw I have been traveling all over Argentina these months and the behavior or people in CABA is the same as in Santa Fe or in Santa Cruz, so I’d say im more than capable of seeing that and have been consistent in saying that the increase of infections is due to how people are behaving - not just the restrictions that may or may not be in place and “enforcement” thereof.

Also btw the medical advice last week and the week before was for a full closedown nationwide, but the government/ president shrugged it off as it would be unpopular.

Are you suggesting this doesn't happen outside of CABA? If so, you're lying or plain wrong. People in province, in Captial, and everywhere else are doing exactly the things you describe and put squarely on CABA.

On the debate on schools, I have said before there is no right answer here, it's a tough situation. My kid is in isolation and not attending because another kid in his class got COVID. It all depends if we deem schools and teachers as essential.

It's not about the last few months, it's about the last few weeks, since the "second wave" started about 2 weeks after Easter. It's about the politically motivated refusal of the CABA government to accept the Federal decree and shut things down since then. I suspect we could have been done with this already rather than seeing 40k cases per day if the CABA government hadn't put politics before health, That is, admittedly, speculation, but there are several claims that "circuit-breaker" lockdowns have worked, particularly in Ireland and the UK.

I'll let the "personal fear of schoolchildren" and "dislike of “right wing” politics" trash talk slide, it's yet another one of the stupid, ad-hominem straw man "arguments" that characterize your posts. But I can't be assed to respond every single time some twit is wrong on the interwebs.

The specific problem with CABA is that not only has it made a mockery of the Federal decree, but it hasn't enforced the minimal regulations it put in place. Argentinians are what they are, wherever and regardless of political affiliation, but you want clandestine bars, clandestine gyms, parties, group drinking in the streets at night, well come to CABA, anything goes, there are no consequences (other than getting Covid, but nobody cares about that, least of all the CABA government). I don't know if it's the same outside CABA, there have at least been reports of high profile parties being broken up in Buenos Aires province, but here in CABA? I don't recall any.

And was that kid tested and registered as a positive Covid case?

Hey look on the bright side. They moved the holiday back to Monday! That was nice of them.

While in the provinces we see the same scenes repeated and the same concerns around increasing cases:

But I get it, it is all the fault of CABA, Laretta, porteños... no comparison with what is going on everywhere else etc etc etc.

To top it off:

Seems like there are 117 results for a Google search of clandestine parties in the last month in CABA, and 163 in BA province. But it's a poor comparison, with duplicates and irrelevant results... actual police statistics would be useful but we're unlikely to get them. I can be wrong about the clandestine party breakups, I'm not glued to the news 24/7, and certainly not to C5N, whatever that is that you tried to troll me with.

And look, I totally get it. Artisans, who is unfortunately no longer posting, shared much more useful information with none of your baggage. Now he's gone, you saw your opportunity, and troll anyone with a different viewpoint posting on "your" thread.
