Seems like there are 117 results for a Google search of clandestine parties in the last month in CABA, and 163 in BA province. But it's a poor comparison, with duplicates and irrelevant results... actual police statistics would be useful but we're unlikely to get them. I can be wrong about the clandestine party breakups, I'm not glued to the news 24/7, and certainly not to C5N, whatever that is that you tried to troll me with.

And look, I totally get it. Artisans, who is unfortunately no longer posting, shared much more useful information with none of your baggage. Now he's gone, you saw your opportunity, and troll anyone with a different viewpoint posting on "your" thread.
We can agree to disagree on whatever opinions which are just that, opinions.
However don't expect myself (or others) to lap up someone trying deliberately or inadvertently spreading misinformation to substantiate their opinions on schools, CABA or sugarcoating how great their chosen "team" is performing, the same way the government is doing.

It is important to be critical and accept criticism about all sides but not to deliberately overlook inconvenient truths. For example, you implied in post 126 CABA is doing nothing about clandestine parties, that was a lie or blatant misinformation to try and paint CABA as somehow being "worse".
In post 120 you implied that the weekend lockdown floated by CABA was an attempt to sabotage the national government when you failed to consider that at the time when CABA announced this the national government were flat out denying stricter measures, again misinformation to paint CABA as "bad". If at anytime you have facts to prove a point, expect my opinion to change, until then keep trying.. trolling, whatever you call it.

The above google dump illustrates clearly that the issue of rising infections everywhere in Argentina is not about the nuances of restrictions. It is compliance. It is people everywhere acting as if they were immune to the virus and engaging in risky social activities. If I understand the medical experts in Argentina correctly they seem to be pretty unanimous that social interaction continues to be the main cause of infection. I don't see this as having much to do with open or closed schools or Horacio vs. Alberto. Twisting the narrative to say otherwise doesn't help a thing.
Nor does it help individuals stay as safe as possible by thinking that government policy X or Y will save them if they are still socialising in risky ways.

The presidential announcement is now on air. Let's see what the deal is.

National restrictions announced by the president as follows:

-Circulation is restricted in all areas of the country that are classified as High Risk or Epidemiological Alarm.
-The measure will govern from this Saturday, May 22 at 0 hours until Sunday, May 30 inclusive.
-Social, economic, educational, religious and sports activities in person will be suspended.
-Essential shops, shops with home delivery and take away will be enabled.
-Circulation permitted only in the vicinity of the home, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., or for specially authorized reasons.
-The measure lasts 9 days and only involves 3 business days.

Then follow the following schedule:
-After these 9 days, from May 31 to June 11 inclusive, activities will be resumed within the framework of the measures in force until today.
-The restrictions that correspond to each area will be implemented according to the epidemiological and health indicators. Firm decision to enforce them strictly.
-In that period, trying to further reduce infections, it will be arranged that the weekend corresponding to June 5 and 6, activities in the most critical areas will be restricted again.
-It is a temporary and intensive care measure.

Support for companies:
- Expansion of the Productive Recovery Program (REPRO) to serve the sectors that will be affected by the measures: trade and others. The investment in this program will be around $ 52,000 million.
- Increase in the amount of the supplementary salary for workers in critical sectors and health, from $ 18,000 to $ 22,000. The planned investment is $ 6,000 million.
- Incorporation of the gastronomic sector to REPRO and reduction of employer contributions in critical sectors, for $ 8,500 million.

Support for families:
- From tomorrow, Friday until the end of the month, 18 billion pesos will be injected into the pockets of the beneficiary families with the Alimentar card. This was announced by the president on Friday, May 7.
- Expansion of the Alimentar Card that will strengthen the income of families with children up to 14 years of age. The measure reaches almost 4 million children and adolescents. The monthly investment to finance the Alimentar Card will be $ 18,100 million and will begin to be paid on Friday, May 21.
- Expansion of the Progresar Program with scholarships for the completion of primary and secondary school, professional training, the completion of university careers and, also, to train nurses. The goal of the program is to reach 1 million youth nationwide with monthly scholarships of between $ 3,600 and $ 9,600. Scholarships are paid throughout the year (12 months). The investment during this year exceeds $ 28,000 million.
- Expansion of the AUH and family allowances. The goal is to reach 700,000 and the estimate is $ 29,000 million.
- The Empower Work Program was transformed to associate them with different productive activities of the popular economy. The 920,000 workers in this program will earn $ 12,204 in May and $ 14,040 by the end of the year. The estimated annual investment for this program is $ 167,000 million.

Support for specific sectors:
- Culture and Tourism. The budget lines to assist these sectors have been reinforced by more than $ 4.7 billion.
- Strengthening the Health System. For the attention of the second wave of COVID, an investment of $ 144,000 million is estimated. Includes the investment in vaccines of $ 72,000 million, the 3-month bonus of $ 6,550 for 700,000 health workers and $ 36,000 million of reduction of employer contributions and the tax on bank credits and debits for companies in the sector, among other items . With these policies we are reaching almost 6 million children and young people: through the Alimentar Card, the expansion of AUH and the Progresar Program.
- The reduction of the income tax for the workers of the registered private system will cause about 1,270,000 workers and retirees to stop paying this tax retroactively to January. The refund of the amounts withheld will be made in 5 installments from the month of July. This equates to a fiscal effort of more than $ 40 billion.
- The package of measures that have been announced to mitigate the impact of the second wave of COVID supposes an expense, above what is established in the 2021 Budget, exceeding $ 480,000 million (1.3% of GDP).
- This increase in spending will be financed through the higher income explained by the Extraordinary Contribution in Large Fortunes and the increase in collection.

In post 120 you implied that the weekend lockdown floated by CABA was an attempt to sabotage the national government when you failed to consider that at the time when CABA announced this the national government were flat out denying stricter measures, again misinformation to paint CABA as "bad". I did not imply, I stated the facts, based on this: https://www.infobae.com/politica/20...s-seguiran-presenciales-en-jardin-y-primaria/, and this: https://www.clarin.com/sociedad/fer...es-escuelas-primarias-ciudad_0_LqvwYSGJH.html. You're wrong again. CABA had taken their decisions in advance of the federal government announcement, and in full knowledge of the spike in infections. It's pretty much a textbook case of politically motivated cynicism.

Why you would consider the posture of the federal government in regard to this, when CABA has ignored the decisions of the federal government for at least the past month, is beyond me.

And the information I supplied about the schools is entirely factual. Deliberately spreading misinformation is all yours. Keep on trolling.

It hasn't enforced the minimal regulations it put in place. Argentinians are what they are, wherever and regardless of political affiliation, but you want clandestine bars, clandestine gyms, parties, group drinking in the streets at night, well come to CABA, anything goes, there are no consequences (other than getting Covid, but nobody cares about that, least of all the CABA government). I don't know if it's the same outside CABA, there have at least been reports of high profile parties being broken up in Buenos Aires province, but here in CABA? I don't recall any.

I don't much care for the political battle you and others are engaging in, but again, what you have described above is not exclusive to CABA. You don't think businesses like bars and gyms are not flaunthing the rules in the province? You don't think parties are not happening in province? You don't think law enforcement is not properly enforcing regulations put in place?

There have been many reports of parties being broken up in CABA. You admit you don't know about what happens outside CABA, and I agree that many people are taking the piss and ignoring the rules. My only argument is that it 100% is happening in the province too, I know it from personal experience.

And was that kid tested and registered as a positive Covid case?

He had COVID, so I presume he was tested yes, but I don't know for sure.

Are medical appointments at locations that are not in my neighborhood no longer permitted under the current restrictions? If I travel by taxi, do I need a formal permiso?

Are medical appointments at locations that are not in my neighborhood no longer permitted under the current restrictions? If I travel by taxi, do I need a formal permiso?
Yes, my understanding is the medical appointments continue to be considered essential activities as they were last year.

You would need the permiso to travel by taxi or circulate far from your home... you can apply on the CuidAR app and there is an option for medical appointments (you need to plug in the details of the doctor and address, etc.) BUT the reality is that it would be highly unlikely for anyone to ask for your permiso or check it... that said I do know of cases from the quarantine last year where people who did not have it and were far from home got into legal trouble. Better safe than sorry - it's only 5 minutes of your time.

A potential dilemma for anyone arriving in AMBA today or tomorrow from elsewhere in the country and trying to arrive by road or plane - unless you are an essential worker they are saying you will be stopped and charged at one of the checkpoints. If you are in your own vehicle it will be detained and only released once you appear in front of a judge etc. The operation is targeted at people who went away for tourism over the lockdown instead of staying home.

It doesn’t specifically mention international travel however I suspect that if coming from EZE you will still be stopped and asked for your CuidAR permit to justify your circulation - so if this applies to you best to download the app before you head to or from the airport to avoid unnecessary discussion at the check-points.

Well, it's the Friday before the "confinement" is supposed to end, I guess it's time for a snapshot of how things are here:

Barely a day after the highest ever daily COVID caseload, CABA wants to open schools again: (https://www.infobae.com/educacion/2...y-las-primarias-de-la-ciudad-de-buenos-aires/), they had previously sent out the hapless CABA "health minister", barely recovered from his road-rash after being thrown under the bus last week, to nail the colours to the mast.

It was to be expected, I think. As was this, of course: https://www.pagina12.com.ar/343772-cuando-le-tocara-la-vacuna-a-la-poblacion-sin-factores-de-ri
  • In the Province of Buenos Aires a citizen of 50 might be vaccinated at the end of June or, at the latest, at the beginning of July. In CABA the situation is different: a 50-year-old from CABA will receive the vaccine from him between August and September.
  • Last Sunday, the CABA Minister of Health, Fernán Quirós, said: “I believe that by the end of July we will have completed the vaccination for people at risk. Between August and September, for the spring, we will be thinking of starting to vaccinate the rest of the community”. The statement can be broken down as: in June people between the ages of 18 and 50 with previous illnesses are vaccinated, as well as the remaining people in health, education and security; in July the second doses are applied to most of those already vaccinated and in August and September those under 60 are vaccinated, without comorbidities.
Over 60s are more likely to vote for the opposition, so the CABA schemers will prioritize a 2nd dose for their constituency over the rest of us. The naked clientelism is shocking, at least to me... maybe I'm naïve, but the only reference point I have for it is how the Venezuelan government allocates resources to its supporters (I worked there with colleagues who were on the Tascón list, any stupid comments on an imagined dislike for rightwing politics will be met with a broadside this time around).

Back to CABA, teachers don't typically vote for the opposition, so they can die, without vaccines. At this point I don't see that there's anything more to it than that.
