"VIP vaccination scandal"

The journalist who went to the radio to report his vaccination success has been accused in the past of working two sides at the same time. I believe he was part of Montoneros in the 70s, but saved his neck by providing inside information to the Massera regime.
Why did he disclose this information so publicly? What was the motivation? I have no idea.

The journalist, Ignacio "Nacho" Ortelli, had concluded an investigation on the issue and Diario Clarin was about to print it. The theory is that Horacio Verbitsky "exposed" himself at the "request" of "someone" at Instituto Patria in order to upstage the publication of the story by Clarin. It was an attempt at damage control which obviously backfired.

Vip vaccination: prosecutor Guillermo Marijuan denounced Ginés González García and asked to investigate the distribution of Sputnik V in the provinces.
....Marijuan asked that the investigation not be limited to "the particular cases that are reported" but rather "be extended to all those cases that are found to have not complied with the order established by the Strategic Plan" in the different jurisdictions. "The complaint not only covers Ginés and others as defendants, but the provinces must inform who vaccinated as health personnel," a source from the prosecution told LA NACION.

The prosecutor sent his complaint yesterday, by email, to the Federal Chamber, which on Monday will sort out who will be the judge who will investigate it. According to Marijuan, his complaint is due to the fact that "people who are not included in the priority groups established by the Strategic Plan for vaccination against Covid-19 in the Argentine Republic are being vaccinated." The prosecutor said that these are "certain people linked to political activities and/or personally related to different officials" who received Sputnik V when "it was not yet possible to vaccinate all health personnel and when it is just in its infancy. the stage of vaccination of the elderly ", as decreed in Resolution 2883/2020 published in the Boletin Oficial.

For Marijuan, "it is an act of unusual institutional gravity because not only is it not complying with the duties of a public official [in reference to González García], but it is also preventing a person considered to be at greater risk, who needs to be vaccinated and can do so. "....
According to the prosecutor, the alleged crime to be investigated is the one provided by article 248 of the Penal Code, which states: "The public official will be punished with imprisonment from 1 month to 2 years and special disqualification for double that time who issues orders contrary to the constitutions or national or provincial laws or will execute the existing orders or resolutions of this kind or will not execute the laws whose compliance is incumbent upon him. " Thus, Marijuan stressed that González García's actions implied "a clear manipulation" that contravened the provisions of the Executive Power, "applying the vaccines on people who were not on the priority list, without any justification."

And he concluded the complaint with his request that the investigation "not be limited to the particular cases that are reported", in reference to the former minister and Verbitsky, "but that it be timely extended to all those cases that it is proven that they have not complied with the order established in the Strategic Plan and in accordance with what is established in each jurisdiction ".

What you just wrote makes a lot of sense. Thank you.

19 February 2021....at 6:40pm by Marcos Novaro, sociologist and journalist. "Militar la vacuna", the boomerang idea that finished off Ginés González García. OPINION | The idea of promoting that leaders and prominent figures get vaccinated to polarize against the so-called “anti-vaccines” became a VIP vaccination scandal.

A few days after the end of 2020, Alberto Fernández smiled proudly in front of the cameras while a nurse applied the Covid vaccine to his arm. At that time, the ruling party was starting the campaign that, he dreamed, would allow him to leave behind the accumulated discredit of (at that point) just under 50,000 deaths, a rate of infections that never decreased too much and rather threatened to regain strength, and 10% drop in the economy. That campaign was essentially "militar la vacuna," which meant two things. On the one hand, use their organizations, instead of the state apparatus, to distribute and inoculate, turning a public service into a patronage and electoral resource for the ruling faction, in the best La Cámpora style as was done during the floods in La Plata. On the other hand, to promote that official leaders and related prominent figures be vaccinated as soon as possible and spread the message in public, to polarize the scene against what they call "anti-vaccines", simply because in some cases they had criticized the lack of precise information on the effectiveness of Sputnik-V, and in others they had raised criticism of some aspect of the national health policy.

But after weeks this strategy of appropriation and polarization began to complicate. First of all, because the arrival of the doses was delayed. So what at first seemed to be the brave and precursor gesture of the President and his allies, inviting society to imitate them, became a privilege difficult to justify, a new sign that the Kirchnerista leadership always finds it easier to take care of their self-interest than that of the public, and tends to confuse one with the other. The reproaches to Horacio Rodríguez Larreta and other opposition leaders who had not yet been vaccinated, were silenced: in the end it was better not to continue talking about the issue, because it could aggravate things for the ruling party and give more electoral favors to the adversaries.

To make matters worse, more and more cases of vaccinations done illegally in different parts of the country, began to be known to gov't leaders and militants. A militant journalist, concejales and deputies of the same party and a few militant Camporistas here and there. The tolerance for abuses of power under Peronist governments is infinitely greater than for those of other parties, because otherwise, several public offices where doses are dealt as if they were social plans or positions in the state would have suffered the consequences of the popular outrage.

A confession already too rude to ignore must have been known, from a militant journalist who perhaps was not entirely unconscious or innocent regarding the expected consequences of what he was saying. The news had to be disclosed that in the Ministry of Health not only "friends" like Horacio Verbitsky were vaccinated, but also dozens of officials, militants and the like, without any respect for established priorities, so that the President would finally react. And he did as expected, especially as was in waiting by the "Kirchnerismo mas duro", cutting the thread at the thinnest point. So he fired Ginés Gonzáles García. He could no longer remain undaunted by the accumulation of mistrust and social bad humor against him, just around the issue on which he put all the chips and hopes, since the end of last year, so that he would make a difference in his favor in the face of the elections. Something had to be done. But what he did, was to invite González García belatedly but unappealable to leave. Does it allow us to hope that the militant use of the vaccine will cease? That it will continue but be managed a little less badly, less internism and clumsiness?

One should not be too optimistic. The electoral campaign is increasingly the central and only obsession of the gov't. It is seen in its management of the economy, and there is no reason for it to be different in the health field. Camporismo continues to gain weight and influence in decision-making, and its inclination to make use of state resources for the benefit of the “orga” is well known. The vaccine is still too valuable a resource for the ruling party to respect it as a public good and not turn it into a campaign input. And above all these reasons also floats the bad habit of patrimonialism, that bitter habit that pushes officials, not only those of Peronist or Kirchnerista origin, to manage public resources as if they were personal, family or group assets.

In Peru, over 100 government officials who took the vaccine improperly (out of almost 500 cases in their vacunagate) have been fired.

Meanwhile we have a list of 3000 improperly applied / or “reserved” vaccines and only 1 government official fired. Despite the fact that they were being administered in the ministry building - not some back alley. Really hope that the justice system steps up here since the president seems satisfied with just one “show trial” to put this scandal to bed.

Provincia Buenos Aires Minister of Health, Daniel Gollan, now also caught in the scandal after many doses in the province went out improperly - including to 18 year old La Cámpora militants. Ironic given our new Deputy Minister of Health of the Nation, Nicolas Kreplak, was working in the prov. BAs Health ministry also as deputy and more focused on the día-día than Gollan.

Its smells of Cristina K to me, she's carefully removing Alberso's legs of power in time for the next phase - Maximo is meant to take BA province in the coming elections. Maxi/minimo (now president of the BA Peronist party) is Cristina's 'get out of jail' free card...but as usual though, these short sighted brutes have just shot themselves in the foot yet again.

this is the least surprising news i could possibly read. i would have been more shocked if the government had managed to run a successful program.

when will people in this country wake up and stop accepting this garbage? and do it more strongly than just banging pots and pans to show displeasure.
