Welcome to the Argentine Idiocracy

Why must we compare Argentina to the USA? They are two countries that are very different. The fact that Bush II waged war on the Muslim world has nothing to do with the fact that Argentina is an Idiocracy.

i agree with a lot of what you have to say however i believe there are more similarities between argentina and the states than you might think. there are also relationships behind the scenes that will never see the light of day.

both countries have been run by corrupt mafia governments for decades. both countries have moronic citizens who "elect" useless and utterly corrupt politicians. the difference is that tyranny and corruption are more in your face in argentina and they are more accepted as a way of life. basically, the people have been conditioned to it over decades.

in the states, you have just as much corruption at the higher levels of politics, perhaps more. it's just that the average american citizen is sleep walking, subjected to massive propaganda and lives in a bubble, naively trusting in their government.

argentina, and many other countries around the world are pressured by the states or its international partner organizations to enforce certain rules or laws in their country or to vote a certain way in the UN. it's like one mafia imposing its will upon another smaller mafia. do this for us and you will be allowed to sit and eat at our table. if you do not then we will use "regime change" to get somebody who will play ball. this is how the game is played.

this may be an over simplification but i think this scene from the movie the godfather is a great clip and can be applied to the inner workings of higher level government/mafia meetings. it's a perfect example of art imitating life:

It wasn't just the poor, uneducated, or the lazy... there are a lot of people that believe that her intentions are good and she wants to do right by the country. .

Do right by the country?
Her intentions are good?

What planet are you living on?

During a relatively short period of time, she and her cronies have paralysed what we would normally call free trade between nations, resulting in chaos.
They have locked down the monetary exchange system, so that even those of us who conduct our business to the letter of the law are unable to buy even one single dollar, officially.
They send a circus to Angola, one of the most corrupt and human rights abusing nations on the planet. That in itself was a laughing stock.
They have succeeded in losing most favoured nation status with the USA; that in itself is quite an achievement.
They have succeeded in provoking extremely strong reactions from Spain and the UK with regard to future trade, not to mention the rest of the EU.....
I could go on and I'm sure there is more.
Doing right by the country?

This.

And your right, there is plenty more. Dont forget the cash sweep of the pension funds, the renationalisation of YPF, Chavez style and all the the other shady stuff (Quebracho, Boudou etc etc).

I used to believe she actually wanted good for this country, but with all the evidence at hand, that surely cant be true?

She is Satan in expensive Prada (made in Italy) suits and Loubouton (France) shoes, who doesn't give a rats behind about Argentina and probably never has. She is only interested in obtaining the best for herself and her buddies. She preaches about the greatness of argentina and how important buying national is, yet doesnt practice what she preaches (she wears european couture including LEATHER goods (!) drives an audi and sends her kid to NYC to study) She knows how to play the game well and has all of the people who don't want to work and think the government should take care of them up to and including giving people who don't work VACATION (train to mar del plata) when in theory their life is a Vacation as they don't work.

Why do those who "state some facts" easily end up offending people? What's worse, offending a country that homes them and doesn't ask them to get a VISA or speak its language.
Perhaps it'd be more productive for some foreigners to do something with their time in this country, instead of merely critisizing over and over again. Funnily enough, those foreigners "enjoy" or try to make friends with the Argentines. Or is it that those foreigners are so superior that try to find the 46% of Argentines who are not stupid?
I always believed that as a foreigner, you have to show some respect for the country where you live. After all, most foreigners come to Argentina (or some other third-world country) escaping from one thing or another, looking for a cheaper, more exciting life or a simpler one or why not, trying to get good medical services cheaper and better than at their own countries.

Maybe you are right. You are all geniuses. No one should ever criticise you. Please continue to destroy Argentina as efficient as in the past.

As William Blake said: "Opposition is true friendship". Many of us expats are so upset not because we do not like AR, we are so upset because we love this country and it is so painful to see it going downhill. Pointing out mistakes is the first step to overcome them.

Most of the criticism here is mocking and demeaning instead of constructive.

Think about it.

If you feel offended about any comment, constructive or destructive, about errors you have produced by yourself, you should target your emotional response towards removing the inital cause and problem instead of "killing the messenger". This type of thinking is very inmature, sadly, very popular.

Yes, my friends and my wife's family are all part of the 46% of the country who are not stupid. They are some of the most anti-K Argentines you would ever meet. Some voted Binner, some voted Carrió, others Alfonsín, but none was stupid enough to vote for CFK after seeing what she did in her first government.

And they were all right. Since the day she won re-election she's gone to further extremes to ruin this country:

1. Boudou now owns the printing presses.
2. No more dollars for anyone.
3. 51% of YPF expropriated, in violation of the constitution of Argentina
4. No more imports. Not even books and essential medications are making it through.
5. Even more power to the thug-in-chief Guillermo Moreno.

I know people in the 54%, but I don't respect them enough to count them as a friend.

Total of eligble voters = 28.800.000
Votes for Cristina = 11.800.000
% of votes for Cristina = 41%

So it basically 4 every 10 voted for K but 6 of 10 did not
