Welcome to the Argentine Idiocracy

Back in 2006 Hollywood released a bad movie called Idiocracy, starring Luke Wilson. The concept was interesting, but it was a bad movie. The argument is that since stupid people reproduce more than intelligent people, eventually society will get dumber and dumber until we are governed by inept idiots, voted into office by these stupid people who keep reproducing.

Argentina today is a perfect example of an Idiocracy. Remember that in Argentina you have the obligation to vote and we have almost full participation of the entire society in elections. So, even the stupidest among us are voting.

In the last election, 54% of the public, the part that is least productive, least able to look after themselves, least intelligent, and least able to triumph, voted in a government of the inept to rule over us. These rulers, who improvise every move they make, spend all their time looking for ways to take from the few productive members of society and reward the idiots who gave them their throne in the first place. Bread and circus for the masses, if you will.

These simpletons (the 54%) can't help but sympathize and vote for this group of so-called leaders who are the least able to effectively govern. Argentina has almost zero trade with Angola, yet the President decided to grace Angola with an official visit and spend her time on a trade mission there. Angola represents 0.21% of Argentina's total exports. And just considering exports to Africa, Angola represents just 3.5% of Argentina's exports to Africa. If Argentina had a decent trade minister instead of a thug (Guillermo Moreno) in charge of Cristina's trade mission, he would have sent her to South Africa, Egypt, and Algeria, which together represent 75% of Argentina's exports to Africa.

I agree with everything you wrote, except the part about Idiocracy being a bad movie. IMO, it's hilarious and chock full of insightful social commentary.

I mean, just the ads for Brawndo, the "Thirst Mutilator--It's What Plants Crave", make it a worthwhile rental or Netflix download...

I don't agree with this government nor would I ever vote for them (I'm Canadian but have lived here for 25+ years, therefore can't vote anyways). I know a helluva lot of people, close friends even, who voted for them, and even though we don't see eye to eye, they are none of the things you called them, and certainly not simpletons(and no, they're not politicians!).

And going past all the political BS, if Obama can sing a few lines why can't CFK throw down some dance moves?

You could have been a citizen about 20 years ago. Your statement about not being able to vote makes no sense. You've been here 25+ YEARS... and you're not a citizen?

Are you sure they aren't? I would need to speak to them to verify this. The only intelligent people who I know who voted Cristina and aren't idiots are the some of the kleptoempresarios and finance people who are making a lot of $$$ off of this government.

I have just finished night of dinner/drinks with my argentinian 'family'. All of them are truelly embarressed of their governments antics.

The fact they gave out 'clarin miente' socks to children with no shoes in ANGOLA!!!!

I have travelled all around the world and this country from top to bottom and side to side and you would be hard pushed to find an country of equal beauty and history (both pre and post conquistadores). I love a lot of the traditions here, the music and the people. Yes (I can hear a lot of you now) I dislike a lot of thing as well but that's the same in every country, although sometimes it does happen more here. But the majority of these problems are down to political infighting at the top which feeds right down to local council level, in turn feeding into the mentality of the citizens.

I feel this is my second country and I can't help but feel so angry and frustrated when I see a minority destroy it for their own personal gain. And the worst thing is they will leave it ruins again and walk away to their handsome swiss bank accounts.

Maybe she is there because Angola is a member of the OPEC and produces more oil than South Africa, Egypt or Algeria?

About your disparaging view about the intelligence of Argentinians. I have found that many people like to think they are smarter than others though it appears people tend not to be as stupid as one likes to think.

Anyway this is just the way it is!
Democracy does not work everywhere and everytime.
America is facing same dillema: Just read that for first time ever, the white caucasion newborn are a minority in America! And knowing that black have a 5 time bigger criminal rate and are extreme over-represented in prisons, (More in prison than in college!), you dont need to be a rocket scientist to predict the future!
(YES, All people that talk about blacks are racists, even that its pure facts!).

Going to migraciones here in Buenos Aires gives you an idea of the mess here too.
Many of the people, or call it famillies, with children bundles, with 1 year age difference, dont look like they could hammer a nail in the wall without both breaking the hammer and the nail! All these people are automatically granted a residency!
On the other hand, if you are a European, or lets say from one of the civilized parts of this world, with a university degree, enough money to support your living, no criminal record whatsoever, coming to this country for business purposes, you are facing months or years challenge to get your papers.

Im not trying to be negative, beeing racist or anything, just stating some facts!
You have givers and takers, many of the people that enters Argentina is the last category! To define a taker: Someone that takes out more from the society than the ones put in: Example, a Bolivian with 3 children and no job....will per definition cost more to Argentina than the one brings to the country. Even WITH a job its probably a taker, due to the cost of the children, school, medical cost etc. etc.

Sad to break the news to the liberal hippies believing in love, peace and harmony!
